I think there is a lot we don't know about what really happened after he collapsed. If it really was commotio cordis and they were able to shock him out of it quickly maybe it isn't so much a belated Christmas miracle that he's 'with it.'  I think his prognosis likely depends on how long he was in the bad rhythm.

Once the heart stops pumping,  which is what happens when the electrical impulse is disrupted(bad rhythm, iirc the heart is in A-fib), oxygenated blood stops reaching tissue cells. The longer that goes on the more tissue death. CPR will keep a person alive and prevent some cell death but it is not the same as a beating heart. CPR compressions force blood toabout 70 percent of the body. Brain cells are damaged fairly quickly but the reports coming out are saying he's in good condition neurologicaly but still critical overall

Mine is 80 and trust me on this, I live in fear that I am worse since my heart attacks and resultant death.  I undergo tests that I don't understand but then that is to be expected as I try to do as they ask of me.  I think I mentioned they took a blood donation from me a short time ago for a youngster whom they thought my blood could help.  I hope it did. 

Today a nurse called and asked if I had tested lately for Covid and if I was willing to do so now and take precautionary booster shots.

I said, "No thank you".  She asked me why and I explained I've died enough for now and I do not trust that vaccine.  I don't even want a flu shot.  She started to go through a bunch of questions about how I was feeling lately and stopped and said,  "Oh yes, you wouldn't know it even if you were electrocuted so we'll skip those questions on pain and what it can mean for someone who has been through what you have.  Just remember what you and your physicians spoke about regarding warning signs of heart  attacks".

I am awaiting scheduling for further follow up exams and tests.  Maybe I can get a medical okay for bhanky to punch me.  He is such a child trapped in a huge mongoloid headed body.

Just kidding bhanky because as you well know, I know all that I need to about you as do others and if you should ever lay a hand upon me to harm me you WILL go to jail for the rest of your hideously unnatural life.

   Well, thank you both but it is around 80 but I can do some things better than others and my mother and later on John taught me to write and so express myself.  John had a tremendous wit that he told me was born of his being so short and he worked with me so that I might have that advantage given the head injuries I had suffered as a child. 

IroNat, when I was in my late teens my Auntie J told me that my other relatives did not mean "nazi" when they would call me that but rather, as you wrote, "Ashkenazi".  She, like my mother, was fair and blonde too and I suspect she might have endured similar taunting when she was growing up but I believed her as much as I could.
