Mentzer tgrew the biggest temper tantrum of all time.

3 other guys placed ahead of Mike but he was only pissed at Arnold. Dickerson had a torn physique but 80 probably was his best year, still shouldn't have won the O. Zane was in great shape but small. Boyer was in great shape also probably best shape of his career but despite his strengths he had a strange build and looked like a manlet next to Arnold. Mike in 5th wasn't at his best, despite what he thinks he looked better in 79 and as an amateur in 78.  Roger Walker probably has the most legitimate gripe of the bunch. He was huge and in shape.

But what none of these wanted to really acknowledge was Arnold spent 2 months training for the O. If he had prepared for 4 months or even 3 months there be nothing to talk about.

Too bad they didn't devote a portion of the movie to him. He had so much charisma and a generous dose of humanity behind those eyes. The things that man must have seen while working the front desk would probably blow our socks off. He was also towering over and easily outmassed everyone.

Dickerson didn't belong on that stage let alone placing second.  As far as I am concerned, Arnold in 1st and Mentzer and Zane in 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 2nd.

Roger Walker and Boyer I would have in 4th and 5th or the other way around.   Padilla looked better than both Walker and Coe but the whole "little guy" BS kept that from happening and in '81 Danny was well and truly ripped off by Columbu and Co.  1982 was given to Dickerson.  Why?  There is no rational reason.  Padilla and Platz were excellent and I think Danny was far better overall than Platz and so should have won that year.

Arnold in poor shape for Arnold was still just plain better than everybody else.  Dickerson must have been buggered by all the judges to have placed 2nd.  There is no valid reason the personification of (those EARS!!) Curious George with pointy elbows should have been there.
