That is why I have never voted and never will. It is why I am a-political. I was done with it a long time ago. Best thing I ever did was stop caring about politics.

It’s all a sham.

There are some respectable politicians out there with principles. Obviously it's rare but it does happen. Thing is: rarely do they get anywhere up the ladder. The career fuckheads bought and paid for by big corporations tend to be funded and promoted to the top. You're right that it's a sham - but it's nice to see the odd good apple in the rotten basket.

Where I live, in the UK - there's Lee Anderson MP (conservative) whom I really like. I'll be voting Reform UK, Richard Tice's party. They've got no chance - and even if Labour get in due to a split vote - who gives a fuck, anymore: Consocialists are just as bad - Tory in name only. Even if the group you hate get in: sometimes it's good to remind the nation how bad they really are so to prevent them back in for another few decades.

I respect The Scott.

But anyone who thinks Trump has a snowballs chance in hell of winning in 2024 is deeply misguided.

I think a lot of people are just trying to be positive and believe he can win.

Why not?  Polling shows him to have a lead over Biden head-to-head

Ron Desantis won't proclaim he will fight the Deep State.  So he can't get the nomination.

I'm not sure that any candidate from either party would stand up as Anti-War at this point except Trump.  That could matter in 2024 as China will be invading Taiwan and Ukraine will still suck

I like DeSantis but he is almost verging on too consensus now, it's similar to when everyone thinks the market is going one way, it often doesn't . No substance to that, but it's a niggle. Has he possibly peaked too early

His biggest hurdle is how he handles Trump and his schoolyard baiting, if he can emerge relatively unbloodied he will get likely get the nod ,but that's a big if, gonna be fun to watch

Traditional media universally shit on him when he broke ranks with the covid regime. It was famously controversial. Jeb Bush strikes me as a cardboard dialtone who wouldn't rub velvet against the grain.

I don't get the comparison.

DeSantis takes over Disney district, punishing company

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed a bill that gives him control of Walt Disney World's self-governing district, punishing the company over its opposition to the so-called “Don't Say Gay” law.

The bill requires DeSantis, a Republican, to appoint a five-member board to oversee the government services that the Disney district provides in its sprawling theme park properties in Florida.

"Today the corporate kingdom finally comes to an end," he said at a bill signing ceremony in Lake Buena Vista. "There's a new sheriff in town, and accountability will be the order of the day."

The signing came as DeSantis gears up for an expected presidential run and marks a high-profile legislative victory for a governor whose leveraging of cultural and political divides has pushed him to the fore of national Republican politics

Every US state is looking at Florida as "the" republican state.  The others will be emboldened by Desantis.  He is the red leader for the US.

Fair point, but I think establishment types within the media and political parties would much rather have Desantis over Trump.

The comparison isn’t so much that the two are similar but that the media overhyped the prospects of Bush over Trump in 2016, much as they are doing now with Desantis over Trump.

I wouldn't get too excited. DeSantis was well placed by the Bush family. A kinder, gentler Trump....

Then again, I'm done voting for the people offered. You think they don't control both sides when trillions are at stake every 4 years?

Look up the corruption of any elected official in a major metro then scale it up 100x for national level politicians....it's pointless fighting it.

I still believe that voting for local officials can lead to real change but I agree with you on the national politicians

Excellent.

No doubt voting for local offices and levies is worth it because they affect your life directly.

You have to assume things like fed tax laws etc will go how they are going to go regardless of your vote.

What is sad is that the people that vote tend to get the least representation and and the higher sense of duty.

Was it Carlin that said if voting really mattered they wouldn't let us do it?

I agree with this.

Ron can’t handle the big time. He is good at the state level. But he cannot handle the 4-D chess games that are being played daily between the global “Powers That Be” and Donald Trump

In bodybuilding speak... Ron might be able to win the pro show in Indianapolis or the Tampa Pro. But he ain’t winning the Olympia.

Are we going in reverse? ;D

It is difficult to make accurate predictions about elections. The polls that try to do this often end up being wrong. I could be wrong, but I think Hillary is permanently retired from politics. Check out her website particularly the 'Hillary Latest' section. https://www.hillaryclinton.com/latest/ Like Biden, Trump and too many others in politics, she is almost an octogenarian.

The average age of American citizens is around 40 years old with a life expectancy of 78. To serve as President of the U.S. you must be at least 35 years old.

Maxwell Alejandro Frost, a Democrat from Florida’s 10th Congressional District serving in the U.S. House of Representatives is the youngest person in the 118th congress. He is a 25-year-old Gen Z’er.

I was thinking the same, but DeSantis is limited to two consecutive terms as governor, so if he waits until 2028 to run for president, he’ll have been out of office since 2025.  This would diminish his momentum.  I think he’s going for 2024.
