The West Central Tribune's circulation of more than 16,000 papers is distributed throughout many surrounding communities. It is located in the little burg of Wilmar, MN which has a population of around 20,000 and it is located 2 hours from Minneapolis.

These two fellows paid the West Central Tribune to publish this letter to the editor in November 2018 when Governor Walz was first elected Governor of Minnesota. Despite their letter to the editor, he was reelected in 2022. Letters to the editor are generally checked for factual accuracy, and evidence-based criticism. I assume this one was, but there is no way to know this for sure.

All those words and no comment on the substance of the story.  Predictable.  Are you bothered at all by this guy abandoning his Soldiers who deployed to Iraq?  Or his stolen valor claim of being  a retired Sergeant Major?

Here is an excerpt from the official bio from Governor Walz:   "After 24 years in the Army National Guard, Command Sergeant Major Walz retired from the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion in 2005."  https://mn.gov/governor/about-gov/timwalz/

This is an absolute stolen valor lie.  He was given a conditional promotion to Sergeant Major, but had that rank taken away when he failed to complete the Sergeant Major Academy educational requirement.  Then he retired to avoid going to combat with his Soldiers.  His rank is Master Sergeant (E8), Not Sergeant Major (E9), or Command Sergeant Major (also E9 but higher than "regular" E9).

I am bothered, but not surprised, by the fact you read one paid editorial from an obscure source and written by two fellows who seem to have an axe to grind, and you run with it. Now that more news stories have been released about the circumstances of Walz retirement after serving 24 years in the National Guard, you might want to read them as well, or not because you already got what you wanted which is a reason to take issue with Walz being picked VP Harris' running mate. Fact:  He has repeatedly lied about his rank.  He is not a retired Command Sergeant Major.  He is a retired Master Sergeant.  Big difference.

Fact:  He reenlisted to serve until 2007. 

Fact:  He got a WARNO (Warning Order) in 2004, telling him his unit would deploy to combat in Iraq in 2005.

Fact:  He retired early in 2005 to avoid going to Iraq, despite being the senior enlisted man in his unit, abandoning his Soldiers, at least one of who was killed in Iraq.

Fact:  He has repeatedly lied about retiring to run for public office, when the real reason he retired was to avoid going to war.

You don't care about these facts because you are too much of a partisan to consider anything that conflicts with your political world view.  You will stay in your bubble because it is safe in there.  I don't fault you for doing so.  Everyone has the right to live their life as they choose. 

But Walz is a stolen valor lying dirtbag who should never be anywhere near a position that could allow him to be the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
