The police let cities burn and then arrested people who stepped up to do the job, like Rittenhouse.
They purged their ranks, just like the military, of anyone who stood up for medical ethics. Then the remaining regime loyalists set about bashing and berating the citizenry.
They're mercenaries for politicians. They're agents of the state. Not ACAB but for every good one you can point to there are another 100 who trample your rights in exchange for a paycheck and sleep like a baby.
Same goes for federal agencies and the justice system overall.
