Man with exploding arms (critique)
« on: April 27, 2006, 01:43:31 PM »
I finally saw the infamous documentery on excessive drug use in bodybuilding . It features  Gregg Valentino, the "Ramblin' Freak " of MD with the absurd synthol arms.
The show is a hard hitting , candid look at the "dark side" of hardcore bodybuilding. The bottom line thread is that drug use is bad,... really bad in hardcore bodybuilding.
This hardly news to us , but it was pretty cool seeeing on screen in such an open way.
As for Greg V., hmmmm, where do I start. The man appears to have some degree of basic intelligence , a good sense of humor and fun loving personality, etc. However, after seeing this documentery I am convinced GV has some form of body dysmorphic disorder. Obviously, the absurd our of proportion cartoon like arms, that he used any means to obtain, is the big hint. In addition to that I found it odd how he posed with his shirt and pants on, showing only his arms, delts and would let his chest show a small bit.
He seemed very insecure about his overall physique and only wanted to exhibit his over blown arms.
The ironic thing is that when he had a decent looking physique with smaller but proportional, defined arms,he was just another good local bodybuilder, not a freak. being a sideshow freak put him on the map as a minor celeb in bodybuilding, while it forced him out of ever getting to compete again.
He made his fame and cult following by becoming a freak.
Why anyone would want to folow a guy who ruined his physique to the point he would be laughed at in posing trunks on stage is beyond me. In the end I suspect GV knew he needed "something" to  get the attention he craved.

This documentary was so unresearched.  They had guys saying that if you take steriods once, u will possibly get cancer or a heart condition.  Where it abuse of steriods that can cause u problems in the long run.  Look at all the pros from the 60's, 70's and 80's, who used it moderately.  Only a very select few had any problems.

I saw it last night too, and all it said to me is, STEROIDS ARE BAD AND WILL KILL YOU BY CAUSING CANCER AND HEART ATTACKS, downplaying that the REAL side effects happen to those who actually abuse steroids over the LONG TERM.  Big, fluffy, govornment/media/gay-ass tard funded anti-steroid propoganda.  BLAH!!!!! >:(

I also just saw it for the first time..What a complete phucking tool this guy is..I remember seeing him at the Olympia a few years back and just laughing at him then  and even more now..I like the way it centered on steroids and  not one thing about synthol and the 1000s of ccs that made his arms blow up...Mick Heart was the only one on that show that had/has any knowledge..The old Mr Universe guy..I do not wish this on anyone but-Gee i wonder why his liver just about blew up. ??? those old school guys did  shit loads of orals by the hand full . he said one smart thing :we didnt know anything about steroids and we were used as guinee pigs..There was some good points about over use  from the scientist but he didnt get into any kind of detail.so it was totaly misleading..If you were just a normal person who didnt know shit about gear and watched it.you would be saying omg look what steroids did to that guy..That poor mother of that british kid..Watching and thinking this is what my son wants to do..I could go on but Iam already rambling..Bottom line...What a joke...
