That 72 Olympia was probably the best condition Sergio wver brought to the contest stage. Arnold was a bit off that year compared to 71 and 73. But I still didn't see the big uproar over it. A matched his size and was still better conditioned despite being off.

Thos shots of Sergio standing alone in the field is the best Sergio ever looked imo. Yet he never brought that look to the stage. Sergio was great, very special genetics. I'd say one of a kind genetics.  To this day no one else has shown those proportions. He was too good. He knew he could show up and win without having to diet as hard as the other competitors.

Every bodypart was a strong point. Small waist, joints, wide. Best genetics ever. Didn't know how to train pre contest to be ripped.

Not a prime Sergio there, that's from the 1980's. He had knee issues by then which affected his leg training.

Arms look much better aesthetically as well as freakishness here. Maybe he just needed to be in better condition.

The other thing not mentioned is that he trained using very basic movements like only flat bench for chest and he was still able to reach near complete development.

I think they are saying that by UFC/fighter standards - not by bodybuilding standards. He was also late thirties to 40+ fighting top fighters in their twenties, and doing well, if not beating them. He also had about 20 years as a top combat sports athlete. I don't think he even trains with weights much, and for what it's worth, he always tested clean under USADA. He's a genetic freak.

You'd be right to say he isn't impressive by bodybuilding standards, but he's very jacked for a fighter.

And contest condition in the late 60's was a completely different ball park ...  In other words, at the time  he felt didnt really need to get leaner
