Devin Haney would beat the absolute shit out of this moron. Anyone that knows the fight game knows this.

5'9 150 vs 6'3 245. I'll take the 5'9 150 all day long.

It's funny how BBer's think muscle mass helps an untrained fighter.

I had a good friend who was 160 pounds and had trained Muay Thai and wrestling for 10+ years.

He used to callout the muscle head bouncers at clubs to fight just because he loved to beat people up.

Saw him beat the shit out of multiple 250+ gorilla dudes.

It was comical.

Yep. Two totally different worlds. Stamina, speed, timing, ability to take a punch, ability to punch without getting punched.  It's not even fair.

An MMA guy that's elite is just as bad in a different way.

  • What you!
I know a big German guy in Kamloops who was a bodybuilder. One day he was in a fight with another German but got a beating because the thin dude knew how to box. After that hiding Gerhard didn't stand there trying to box but immediately rushed the opponent and after grabbing him the fight was soon over. Same thing goes for this big guy vs the classy 165 pound boxer. Unless the boxer gets lucky with a punch the big guy should destroy him in a street fight. In the good old days people used to argue about who would win a fight between a pro boxer and wrestler. The wrestler would almost always win for the same reason I mentioned here. Once they grab the boxer it is all over.

I would only make one point of distinction on here:

Boxers would be more limited than MMA fighters in a street fight. I feel that big/strong people would stand a better chance against a boxer than an MMA fighter.

Somewhere in this video, George Stroumboulopoulos says that Oscar De LA Hoya once told him he'd lose in a street fight [obviously not always - but I think Oscar meant that boxing won't always nullify all street fighters...I'm assuming he said that from experience]:

NOT that I'm refuting anything you just said.

I would also say: size and strength does matter to an extent. Like when Dustin Poirier grappled with Brian Shaw. Obviously that's an extreme example - but it does show that some amount of size and strength can overcome skill.

Agree Matt, more weapons! George St. Pierre at 170lbs would destroy! When you're going up against Hill Ogres like Brian, you're going to have to have a bigger guy like a 205lb Jon Jones would decimate Brian Shaw.

He's my favourite fighter!

People tend to be cheer on their own countrymen, but to me it's more a matter of his unblemished record, and how incredibly diligent he was. As well as being a good ambassador for the sport, and being a 170-lb'er, I guess I find him more relatable.

Not just him being Canadian.

PS - Wiggs, go to 6:46 of that GSP video to hear the alleged Oscar De La Hoya statement. Do you suppose Oscar got into a street fight that humbled him? I found that to be an odd statement for a boxer to say. Why would De La Hoya lose in a street fight? Lol.

I don’t know either of these guys all I can say is what I said in the other fight thread. In a street fight anything goes and anyone can win on any given day. Size and strength doesn’t play to much in sanctioned fighting but in the street size and strength as well as fighting ability and the ability to cause complete chaos means a lot.

The big strong guy gets a hold of the little guy and he’s on a rampage he could Hankins(rag doll) him.

With this said if he’s just a big strong guy who watches ufc from his parents basement and doesn’t actually fight much then yes I would give it to the 150lb guy allday long.

I have seen tiny guys destroy big guys and vice verse, as I said any given day. I have been beaten by little men and vice versa as well as been beaten by giants and vice versa.

The street isn’t a ring sanctioned event. Lots of that won’t transfer to fighting an animal in the street. Seen it many times. I had a buddy who was a golden gloves boxer and he got the ever living shit beat out of him by a big madman at a bar and that big man had no skill except pure evil in him.

I wonder what's up with that.

Admittedly, boxing specifically would be more limited than MMA in this regard.

Man, Rob - just reading your post makes me want to rip a joint and cast an old Mike Tyson fight on my big screen!

PS - just kidding about ripping that joint.

Hahahah, I just took a couple rips off a joint and I’m laughing hysterically that this kind of shit is real. This just blows my fucking mind.

LOL.

no shot any 5'9 150lb kid, regardless if he can punch hard, is beating a 6'3 260lb juiced up gorilla

bodybuilders cant fight, thats true, but he doesnt have to know how to throw a punch, he just rushes him, and its over

100 lb difference + several inches, now maybe if they were the same height, little haney might have a chance. but you would have to be the most least hand eye coordinated guy ever to lose to someone 100lbs smaller. 150lb guys have no punching power either, he gets steam rolled

I'm usually around 160 lb and was a good boxer. The last fight I got in was with a 6'9" professional rugby player who outweighed me by 100 lbs easily. He started the fight, split my nose open and tackled me into a wall. I split his eye open and then knocked him out with a lead hook. We shook hands after. The people there who witnessed it literally said 'no one will ever believe this happened'. Even writing it sounds like total horseshit, but weight doesn't mean as much outside of a professional fight. Willingness to not stop, combined with a bit of technique is more important.

A good shot to the chin and the 'gorilla' will fall like a sack of shit.

I think Daniel Cormier could beat Tyson in a street fight, but...to me, nobody looks better by the "Eye Test" than Tyson did.

Everytime tyson is mentioned now i think of how the bionic man hankenstein would ragdoll him ;D
Imagine Hanky ducking his head to try take tyson down with his screwed up knees, he'd have a ton of knockout blows to his head by the time he's tried to grab his legs  ::)

Stop Rob. You and others are hilarious.

"I just see red bro". "I just black out and go into a berserker rage bro". That's a recipe for a guaranteed ass whoopin'  That shit'll work on some untrained normie. Not an elite fighter.

This is laughable.

Jon Jones especially at his 250 weight now at 6'4 would beat the shit out of a prime Tyson in a street fight or in the ring. Unless it's just boxing.

Wiggs, I’ve seen it firsthand. Size don’t matter and skill matters less in the street. It just doesn’t transfer over. If you have some skill and are crazy that can beat more skill. Don’t care what anyone says. He who is willing to go the furthest and has been in fights will surprise a skilled fighter. I’m not saying the i see red or black rage will do much but if a guy has a fighter mentality and has nothing to lose he can do some damage. I did know a fat guy years ago who was 6’ 310 and did have black out rage and he fought all the time and didn’t lose much at all. He fought a few mixed martial arts guys and beat the bag out of them.
