Thanks Wes! Yeah I started tracking my calories for really the first time in my life about 6 months ago. I lost a lot of weight but I saw a bunch of relatives at Christmas that I had not seen in over a year and after I left they all started asking my mom if I had been sick.WTF so I added my protein intake up and I wasn’t getting but about 50 -75 grams a day so I started keeping up with that and making sure to get 170 - 200 grams a day.

I was 225 when I started dieting on 2000 Cals. I was actually down to about 160 at Christmas when everyone thought I was sick. I then started counting protein grams and am at 180 now.I am six ft. tall so that is not very much weight but I am not going to worry about that just try to be in as good a shape as I can.

225 at 6ft not fat at all, & now at 180 in very lean condition !!
Just from that one pic I'd guess you could add another 10-12lbs of muscle
Without losing in any condition.

I'm 5'6 & around 220lbs- lost a lot of tissue from going diabetic & a recent week
In hospital. Not quite as lean as you though.

I'm working on getting back up to 230lbs 🤞🏻👊🏻

Thanks for the compliment.I am going to keep the protein around 200 and train consistently and see where I land.I have also been doing an hour of cardio every morning during the week for about a year.I get up and pour me a large coffee and get on the stationary bike for an hour and oddly enough it is my favorite part of the day.Thanks again and more importantly good luck with your health issues.

Sorry to hear about the diabetes.

I presume it's Type-2.  If it's Type-1 then forget what follows.

220 at 5'6" is carrying a lot of bodyweight.  Realistically you should get down to around 160ish to cure the diabetes.

That probably sounds crazy but it's a pretty solid weight at 5'6".

Shouldn't you drop quite a bit of weight and greatly reduce carbs and sugars to get rid of it?

Type-2 is definitely curable if you do those things.  Otherwise you are looking at serious health conditions like amputations down the line.

My strength is nowhere near where it once was but I had my hip replaced a few years ago so my leg workout is a lot of high rep leg extensions and lunges and things like that.Many years ago I did martial arts but then I started competing in powerlifting and that completely stopped the martial arts work.About a year ago I started doing (very lightly) training in karate again.It was pretty sad looking trying to do a side kick after all the squats I had done.Losing weight has actually made that a little easier.
