straightening his arm on the preacher bench was a guaranteed tear , all load was off the muscle and on the tendon

Good point. Ive learned over the years to leave a slight bend at the elbow, total straight always felt wrong.
PLus, use weights you can  handle for at least 8 reps on things like that.

"Curling" of any sort, is not a 1RM "Powerlift"...

Man, I saw an old guy do that at a rehab center before..I was rehabbing a quad tear and he just got over a bicep reattachment..dude was yelling at his therapist that he was perfectly ok and grabbed an ez curl bar from the normal part of the gym and as soon as he stood up with it blew both biceps..started screaming and fell on the ground and had a damn seizure lol

It’s one of my top 3 lifting injuries that I’ve ever witnessed

Everyone warns of tearing your bicep off with a deadlift. The preacher bench can be just as dangerous. A buddy of mine tore his that way. I tore my bicep off the bone deadlifting a pool table in a bar when the balls didn't come out. Nobody told me the table weighed 700lbs.  After the operation my bicep works but it's misshapen.  Took almost six months to regain strength back in the arm. Some people have partial tears but if you completely ripped it off like I did you seriously damaged your arm.

Oldtimer true story you remember those old preacher curls with the steep incline well when my dumb ass was 23 I was using a weight I had used before but I injured my right bicep pretty bad took a year of no training for it to get better needless to say I never used one of those again

I have said before this happens when you start at the top and do a negative on the preacher. When you start at the bottom like a strict curl this does not happen. You do not see guys injuring their biceps at strict curl events it just doesn't happen. If you can curl it fully extended without your back you can curl it. It is when you use your back to overload or start contracted and then extend with too much weight this happens. It does not happen in strict curling. I was very concerned about this when I started Coop has never seen it happen yet at a strict curling event and has been doing it for years hasn't seen it not once to anyone. You start fully extended and you can't swing the weight with your back so this doesn't happen. You guys claim I drop the weight and do not do a slow controlled negative you damn right that is how you pop a bicep there is no negative in a strict curl the lift is completed at the top.

Any remember that went-nowhere Canadian pro Jason Marcovici?

I witnessed the dumb Wop blow out both knees squatting on a Smith machine.

Lots of screaming, wailing and regret.

So full range of motion is bad for the muscle?

There is a video I saw recently where a guy tore off both quads using a sissy squat bench. After seeing that I will never use one.  He leaned back to increase the leverage against his quads and tore both. Bet he was in a wheel chair for awhile after the operation.

Bad when you are putting an unnatural leverage against the bicep.

Never heard of people getting bicep tears back in the 80s/90s.
