My father served in WW2 and never did that.
I think the "Veteran" excuse is overused.
He actually came back from the Pacific and got a job to support his family.
My Dad was in the end of WW2, the Korean War, and Vietnam. While he supported his family, the war did take a toll on him. Not everyone was as fortunate as your father. I say this only to say that because X did X and wasn't affected, it doesn't apply to everyone. I spent 34 years in Law Enforcement, 10 of it military and I saw and did things that were stressful to say the least. Now I am dealing with those things, but I get notifications almost every other month about a former co worker who commited suicide. I would hate for my son to use me as an example of "the veteran excuse is overused"
