For a bodybuilder or anyone wanting to look great on the beach..Deadlifts are not needed.
Yes i know... but mass ..  much better exercises to work lower back & lats.

There is zero reason to deadlift heavy off the floor.

Zero.

And this is coming from a former powerlifter.

heavy no, anywhere from 55-75% of your max where there's no technique failure it's a perfectly safe movement

Rack pulls are good too, I can feel the back more. I have been doing front squats lately, can't go too heavy and the feel on the back and abs are very unique.

I prefer both of these exercises. The front squat feels better in the hips, knees and lower back.

You think the guy who broke his back agrees?  Probably can’t lift heavy ever again.

New age of Gymtard and Social-Media is responsible for tons of tears/injuries.
Selfie-rings, torn-up physiques, posers, wanna-bees... (Curlers).

The greats back in the day didnt get hurt deadlifting, they knew what they were doing.

Suffering a debilitating injury just to show off for people who don’t care if you live or die.

This. If ever there was an over-abused ego lift. It's deadlifting.

I think it's largely due to the fact that deadlifting is considered a "blue collar" movement.

Technically, any idiot can bend down over a decently loaded bar and lift it with horrendous technique.

Learning the fundamentals such as the hip hinge, leg drive, lat engagement, intra-abdominal pressurization etc takes time and practice.

Imo, it's a very important movement. It litteraly teaches you how to pick things up safely and effectively. Not sure about it's BB purpose though.

As residue said, staying around 55-75% of your max should not only be fine but also also great for your you.
