Heavy vs light side laterals ??
« on: July 21, 2023, 12:05:04 PM »
U can go pretty heavy on side laterals, but is it more efficient from a muscle-building standpoint? ???

Do you prefer this style of side laterals @13:48

or rather that one @0:55

That looks more like a 1/4 RoM dumbbell upright row.

I stay light and get 12 reps per set unilaterally.

Hard to take someone serious that would leak down to nothing without the oil, looked so stupid.
I do laterals without the rest at the bottom, burn is ridiculous

Light weight almost straight arm tipped forward reps 10-20.weights 12-20lbs usually. But I’ve found that upright db rows is getting my side delts like crazy. Never did upright rows before consistently and now the difference is very noticeable after doing them for 2 months twice a week.

No one rep scheme is superior at building. A 1rep squat of max weight still hurts like a set of 10 to failure

Playing with reps is feeling different densities or dimensions
It is preferred to note qualities attained theoheretically

Yeah the barbell kills shoulder and wrists but the dumbbells just fall where it’s comfortable and the burn I get in side delts is crazy form those. I always said they sucked until 2 months ago and doing them with dbs. Whenever I go heavy on laterals my shoulder joints just kill for days. 45-50 one arm at a time is pretty damn strong. I’m huge on volume, I was training to absolute failure on everything until recently now it’s more volume and leave some in the tank.

Heavy side laterals tend to overstimulate the supraspinatus muscle.

A hypetrophied supraspinatus will reduce the amount of space directly beneath the acromion and above the shoulder joint ( subacromial space. )

The muscle will rub against the acromion, resulting in inflammation, swelling and, in the long term, muscle tear

The symptoms generally include a sharp pain, deep inside the trapezius muscle.
