Shit thing is, “mental health” is such a catch phrase now. I’m an employer and I literally gave a guy off Friday for a mental health day. It’s not the first one either. I had a guy take four days off in a row because his aunt had shoulder surgery and told me he wanted to know if that went against his PTO. Wtf

It’s happening more and more. I give three days bereavement for death of immediate family. They take that as anyone they know dies they should get free days off. But, the fuck you’re gonna do? You can’t find help so you just let it happen. Shit, just spent $2,500 plus credit card fees to bail one of my guys out of the clink this morning.

Anyone remember a story from early 2000's a greyhound bus up in Canada a Chinese guy pulls out some kind of knife and starts hacking the head off of a young Canadian guy next to him? Just randomly. No reason at all. In fact the Canadian guy was a hockey player in college and was sleeping in his seat. The Chinese dude ended up completely beheading the young man.

That dude only did a few years in a psych facility up in canada. After 7 or 8 years he was released and lives somewhere in Toronto now.

Fucking insane.

His release wouldn’t be up to Keith Ellison, it would be at the discretion of the mental health professionals caring for him.

Ultimately, the man was tried by a jury of his peers and that jury determined that he was not guilty by reason of insanity. It’s not the decision of the AG, or the prosecutor, or the judge, or any psychiatrist, etc. The decision to find this man not guilty by reason of insanity was made by a jury of his peers. We don’t know what evidence or testimony they heard, but clearly all 12 members of that jury felt it compelling enough to reach their unanimous verdict.
