Saw videos of him squatting in his later years. My guess is that he went too heavy for too long ala Ronnie and fucked up his back.

I’ve come to the conclusion that once you’re over 50,  your best bet is bodyweight squats. If you want you can pre exhaust your quads with leg extensions but having a loaded up bar across your back/neck isn’t doing you any favors.

Vince broke his coccyx in a motorcycle accident in the early 90s(I think), then starting taking crazy bumps in his 50s in the late 90s.

The problem with leg extensions is they put huge amounts of pressure on a very small surface area on the cartilage behind the kneecap.

Like all exercises people go too heavy. Personally, i don’t do them anymore but it’s an exercise meant for light weights.
