Yes to all of the above. Big pharma got richer, the governments around the world tested their peoples obedience, the banks got richer, the media controlled your every emotion. Is it really that far fetched to believe that there are evil people in government that would plan something like this? Don't be naive.

By evil people in government, do you mean government employees, (who can be fired) and not the folks who are elected to office? If folks elected to office have power, it is temporary because they must get reelected every few years, and this is up to those 'obedient' people to decide because the only way a politician can keep their position is via people’s donations and eventually their vote. One thing you almost have right is that power begets greater power and money is the ultimate power tool.

Did you know there are schools for folks who hope to become politicians? I know because the union I belonged to recommended me to participate in Oregon Labor Candidate School [https://www.oregonlaborcandidateschool.org]. What do you suppose is the first thing  we students are taught? We are given assignments which require us to raise money through contributions which in turn help support the program. This is an important lesson because donations buy candidates media exposure and pay for their campaigns. Note that almost daily the Biden and Trump campaigns tout the amount of money they raise which in turn finances their campaigns.
