Teenage Mr. America Lee Haney had a great physique.  However, I think Doug Stadele should have won the tall class and overall.  Doug Stadele was outstanding at the 1979 Teenage Mr. America.  But, that is how judging goes sometimes. Two great teenage physiques and Lee Haney got the top spot.
Hi Doug.

I met him a couple years ago.  An absolute gentleman.  I was able to thank him for the profound impact he had on my life.  As a youngster I was watching a clip of him on lifting (forget the name of the show), but he said he never had a training injury.  Always used perfect form.  I vowed that I would do the same thing.  And despite being a gym rat my entire life, I've never had a training injury.  I credit Lee Haney.  Very cool to be able to tell him that story.

Ah but he did get injured during this Olympia days according to this 2nd book. But he stressed that he took time off to heal and honestly didn't freak out or anything because he had to defend his title. Unlike torn bicep Dorian years later.
