Talented, sure, but preposterously full of himself.

And the he’s-the-greatest-guitarist-ever hipster claptrap is entirely ridiculous.

He was a very decent player. The end.

However, in a discussion about the Greats, of any style, he is not in it. Or anywhere near it.

Prince’s memory to the public at large is quickly eroding, too.

Outside of diehards, the man recorded a few classic eighties tunes.

The end.

P.S. The midget, despite his obvious talents, was just another drug-addict buffoon, intent to destroy himself.

And here we go …

ANYONE can play any style (genre) on guitar if he chooses to.

He is not underrated.

If anything, he is overrated. And I hate that word. But it’s true.

As I say, he was a very decent player.

But the scope of his facility and the lasting relevance of anything he recorded on the guitar amounts to nowhere and nothing.

with the disdain for rec drug use on this board lets not forget how he parted this world

....so strung out on codeine he had to resort to street level drugs dealers - who were pressing their pills , mixing in some fen,,t3an.,yl/

understood his hips were shot from performances - maybe had one replaced at one time? nonetheless a little fellow in a boat load of pain but his vice is what eventually led to his downfall

stores of having to carry his little ass into elevators , collapsing upon standing often

but apparently had that sex palace in Minnesota so respect from me all the way

Very true Rob,but he never truly focused solely on being a guitarist.

Just saying he was pretty good....not anyone can play any genre` expertly....I think Prince probably could have, but who knows....just my thoughts bud!  ;)

Great post.

It would be like saying a 1980's triathlete champion was the best swimmer. You're not going to be the best when you are spread thin getting to a high level at multiple crafts.

Also, what kind of nimrod was Prince to not procure proper/real opiate pills, with his money and connections?

I thought that. Surely he could have done a Jackson and used legit doctors for his needs.

Dave Chappelle made skits about him and he responds by using his image to sell some records

Then the Purple Rain movie on TV.

Bonus points for the Morris Day having a woman thrown in a dumpster.  That Purple Rain movie was crazy.  Will never be seen on public tv again

Back when "records" were a thing, he went to a record store in Greensboro and bought 3.albums with a check...when "checks" were a thing...the check bounced
