I have no doubt about his feelling regarding his actions.

Those guys, and i apologise for the generalization, remind me of the character "Bob" in the movie "The Drop" with James Gandolfini, when he shoots another criminal "Eric Deeds" in the neck, in front of his girlfriend, and tells her he is not like him, a criminal.

Great movie

Yep, he killed the guy who "bulletneck" had claimed to have killed because Gandolfini owed him money.

I remember when his grandad, Ronald, mowed down 20 Krauts outside of Normandy. Gave ‘em smokes first too.

Some won't get the reference here.  But.... good one!

Hey, why don't you come over to my pad later and let me show you a new move....

Seriously though, his teachings look sound and effective.  Defensive offense is what my instructor once called it.  Let's face it, in a crowded bar no one is throwing a kick to the head or finding the room to throw a haymaker that removes 1/3 of the other person's elementary school lessons from his head.  And if going to the ground (where most fights up end anyway), staying on the ground isn't an option because 1) the other dude's buddies will just try to stomp you if you are winning  2) both of the fighters just try to get back up as fast as possible anyway.

Joswift merely mentioned that McLean was the guy who coined the expression "Google is your friend"

Punching someone in the head seems like a good strategy but you'll likely break your hand.

Boxers wear hand wraps and gloves.  MMA fighters wear gloves.

Boxers have even broken their hands wearing wraps and gloves.

You wear gloves hitting a heavy bag.

This is why the old time karatekas conditioned their hands.  The problem with that is turning your hands into clubs messes up your hands.

Even so, the target of a karate punch was usually the solar plexus, a soft target.

Spiers goes after soft targets or uses elbows against the head.  Smart.
