Forearm pain
« on: August 12, 2023, 12:27:21 AM »
I was at the Doctors on Monday & the nurse was drawing blood & hit a nerve.
Since then I've numbness & pain.
I felt it immediately as a pain shot down my forearm into my hand & she said oh, I've hit a nerve. I'm hoping it'll not be a permanent problem...
Anyone had this?

Basically this ...

There are bundles of nerves close to your major veins, and if one of those nerves is nicked or punctured by the phlebotomist (the person drawing your blood), you could experience the following: The feeling of an electric shock during the procedure. Persistent pain in the arm. Numbness and tingling in the arm and hand

Nurses aren't the smartest people in the world. Bodybuilders can inject steroids for years and never cause a problem like that.

Yeah she was fucking brutal & even said I've hit a nerve.
I was hoping it would clear up but it hasn't.

It lasts about a week. A friend did it to me once when practicing putting cannulas in. Went in too deep and tried to adjust the angle. Gave me horrible, sharp tingling for a week and stopped me from lifting, but it went away. I stopped volunteering after that.

You got to rest it.

Avoid it becoming chronic.

Stop further irritation.

Take ibuproefen for a couple days to reduce inflammation.

The ibuprofen will make you think the forearm is better because the pain will go away, however, this is false so you still have to rest it.

Once the pain goes away while off the ibuprofen then you are healed but take it easy coming back for a little while.

The ibuprofen will reduce inflammation so you can heal.
