U.S. Army soldier fled to North Korea because of racism
« on: August 16, 2023, 04:57:26 PM »
Private Travis King, who was imprisoned for 47 days in a South Korean prison for assault, faced discharge from the Army because of his conviction in a foreign country. Following his release on July 10, he was was scheduled to return to Fort Bliss, Texas

He was escorted as far as customs but left the airport before boarding his plane,  he then joined a tour of the Korean border village of Panmunjom, where he ran across the border

According to a woman in the tourist group, King, dressed in civilian clothes, crossed the border, shouting "HA-HA-HA" , before running "between two of the buildings and over to the other side."

(The Army realized he was missing when he did not get off the flight in Texas as expected...)

Today, Pyongyang acknowledged detaining the soldier. ( He has not been heard from or seen since his crossing though )

Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- KCNA issued the following report:

In the joint security area of Panmunjom on July 18, Juche 112 (2023), there happened an incident in which Travis King, a private 2nd class of the U.S. Army in south Korea, illegally intruded into the territory of the DPRK.

At 15:30 on July 18, King, who accompanied tourists to the joint security area of Panmunjom, came to be kept under control by soldiers of the Korean People's Army on duty as he deliberately intruded into the area of the DPRK side between the room for the DPRK-U.S. military contacts and the rest room of security officers along the Military Demarcation Line.

According to an investigation by a relevant organ of the DPRK, Travis King admitted that he illegally intruded into the territory of the DPRK.

During the investigation, Travis King confessed that he had decided to come over to the DPRK as he harbored ill feeling against inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination within the U.S. Army.

He also expressed his willingness to seek refugee in the DPRK or a third country, saying that he was disillusioned at the unequal American society.

The investigation continues. -0-

He's about to find out what racism really is.  Those pacman's don't even treat their own people well.  Imagine what they are going to do to a 925 thats also US soldier

I'd rather be the guest of honor at a KKK rally wearing a free necktie than to step one foot into North Korea with those taxis

Something doesn't seem right about this.

I'll grant that today's Army is not the same Army I served in (89-92), but in my day, the Army wouldn't send a private on an official trip without an NCO escort even to attend an award ceremony, much less on the way to receiving adverse administrative action.

My guess is that the Army is covering up one of two things: either the NCO escort willingly aided/abetted Pvt King's escape, or the NCO failed to keep Pvt King secured out of either incompetence or cowardice.

I suppose they could use him for propaganda,as a living example of a disappointed American,to tell the story of how USA sucks and he could be treated well there. Maybe even meet Kim.

The timing is also interesting. KCNA "coincidentally" published this short statement just 24h before The U.N. Security Council meeting on North Korea’s human rights situation ( The United States holds the Security Council presidency this month)

King's been missing for four weeks at this point.

The fact that Korean Central News Agency's statement emphasised King's illegal entry could be bad news too imo. At this point they could very well decide to punish him rather than reward him for his actions.

The agency also concluded by noting the DPRK is "continuing its investigation", a hint that the Authorities are in no rush to negotiate King's return to the US just yet and perhaps remain largely undecided on his fate themselves.

Kevin Samuels was living on borrowed time and he knew it.  He was having heart issues for years and took medicine for it.   That thing finally went bust and no amount of CPR would help at that point.   At least he died with a fine lass next to him.  Can't really ask for much more

He's in one of their jails, he's not going to be fucking anything unless the scientists decide to cross breed him with a monkey or something.  They do shit like that over there..  He will be used as a tool of propaganda by North Korea to show proof that the US doesnt care about their people.  North Koreans still think that we drink "snow coffee"

Once they are finished with him, they will put him on trial for spying and will be executed if Biden doesnt pay up the cash
