I like Mike Mentzer. I like his interviews.


My problem with this video is Bill Phillips. Bill asked Mike: “why do so many people in bodybuilding have to take steroids?”

What!?!?

My question to Bill is this: Why did you write a book about every single androgenic/anabolic steroid known to man...  and Human Growth Hormone... and IGF-1.. and Clenbuterol.. and T3..  ??

Why did you start a magazine that openly discussed bodybuilding drugs?

Why did you teach people exactly how to use each steroid, and why are you playing dumb now?

That interview with Mike would’ve been easier to listen to if you didn’t know about Bill’s drug books & magazines.

At one point Mike was editor in chief of bodybuilding magazine

Bill Phillips was a steroid dealer who wrote about steroids to somehow increase business.
His books about drugs and supplements were ads.

Phillips and Mentzer had a falling out a bit after that tape, when MM2K ran a photo of Mentzer looking like a mess carrying around a tray (I forget if it was a 1/2 dozen or the full dozen) of donuts and a big cup of coffee as his breakfast. Mentzer was going to be an EAS guy, but he took great offense to that.

I’ll never forgot that video of Mike in the late 90’s training a bber, forgot his name, probably amateur, and Mike was screwing around taking breaks and smoking cigarettes and the bber got pissed and told him off about paying him just for him to talk, take breaks and smoke cigarettes  ;D :D haha, hilarious
