Mr. Ray's comments to Keith always seemed to have a personal tone to them.  Something sounded overly defensive about his posts.  I am not going back to re-read them as once was enough, in this case.  It just seemed that something was being left unsaid or that these two had far more to do with each other than either let on.  Mr. Ray's comments almost seemed to be a strategy to be aggressive first as his defense policy- a form of pre-emptive attack.  

Mr. Ray need not have defended himself:  against whom and for what?  Against some jerk on an internet chat room?  How could it be that an insignificant person on some small board suddenly be so important to Mr. Ray that he come on to respond to these things?  He ostensibly has achieved greatness in this sport whereas most of the people making comments have done very little.  Many still live in the basement with their momma -  that reminds me... " Hey ma, I want gravy with my fries!!" 

Mr. Ray showed up fat and out of shape at a contest promoted by onlyme.  Rather than feel embarrassed about this fact, Mr. Ray now runs around on this board bad mouthing Keith at every opportunity.  He says that " Hey, I am only defending myself!" which is as stupid as it is silly.  He never addresses any of the issues at hand.

This seems to be the pattern actually: bad mouth everything until you hope it goes away.  The PDI thing, Wayne, this specific issue or whatever else.  Try to spread false imformation or deflect the truth until no one can tell the difference. 

Shawn Ray is a classless scum sucker who resorts to low blow tactics and deflection.  He still tries to make himself look good in spite of whatever evidence exists to the contrary. 

Perhaps his lower than desired placings had more to do with this aspect of his personality: the judges refused to give the crown to an a.s.s.

I don't think (at least I don't) people are arguing over Shawns body.  Even I admit I liked his body.  He was awesome.  But, his attitude, personality, karma, and the way he chose to live his life could be a reason he did only place in the top 5 at the Olympia yet never won it.  Sometimes your private life affects yourprofessioanl life.  Happens all the time.  He may have looked awesome in his day but it shows you that looks aren't everything (did I just say that).  When I was in shape and competing I know I got allot of attention from EVERYBODY.  At 6'1" 300lbs with a sub-38" waist I got plenty of attention.  But, the thing I got most remarked on was how nice I was and how easy it was to talk to me and how I could talk to anyone.  My body got the introduction but my personality closed the deal.  I didn't ever feel it neccessary to put down anyone for anything no matter what.  Perfect example is how I helped Shawn with his honeymoon even after I got screwed at my show.  For some reason I don't hold grudges.  Another example even after all this shit I say about Shawn and his show and after he constantly calls me fat, I am the one who hooked him up with the military support at his show.  Did he mention this at all.  NO.  I still tried to help him even after all the shit that has gone down in here.  SO judge it for yourself.

This is the classic Deflection i was talking about.  NO one is arguing the fact that the guy had a great physique.  I can't place in the top five in a local competition having only 5 competitors!  This has no bearing on the argument put forth: neither  does Mr. Ray's past competition history.  That speaks for itself.

When a person places almost complete emphasis on the superficial and places his contest history as being directly proportional to his personality ( he looks great so must be a great guy ! ), this oft times leads to some rather very disturbing scenarios.

In the parlance, Shawn Ray would be called an oil slick- a mile wide but only half inch deep.  

People who get all caught up in idolatry often lose focus: they confuse the myth for the man.  

Mr. Ray had a fantastic physique and he was aptly rewarded for it.  This may have warped his own thinking about who and what he is though.  It is quite obvious that it has warped many otherwise sharp minds.

There are so many negative people on this board, everything about these people screams " negative vibes".  Shawn Ray is one of these people.  Just under the surface of their personae, they are empty.  Empty empty empty. They are grasping onto anything to make themselves real.  A common theme to feel real is to destroy other people. Especially people who have helped them in their attempt to become real.  Usually these are the people closest to these 'empty people'.  They attempt to destroy the people closest to them; those who know them the best.

Yeah, I think i even wrote that he should have won at least one.  As you have said or implied, the show is about who is best on stage, damn the personality of the winner.  But the character flaws are indeed astounding and exceedingly obvious to those who know what to look for and what we are looking at. 

I can't believe that he responds to anything yet he responds to EVERYTHING.  We should be insignificant to him but for some reason, it is important to him for his self identity, to defend everything.  Just about every professional bodybuilder is like this: overly defensive and pre-emptively aggressive. And yes it is possible to have both characteristics.  This is why other some other blue stars come to his rescue. 

The character traits to allow a person to rise to the top of his/her profession are rarely those same traits that allow a person to have humility, true compassion and likeability.  And some traits are in direct conflict with the others.  It's hardly surprising. 

But Mr. Ray takes it to an obvious and higher level than necessary.

Okay, I realize that I will never attain his size and contest conditioning but in that first picture he looks like crap.  That is not what a bodybuilder should look like.  I realize these guys add fat and water to their frame but there should still be abs visible and less of a pregant looking stomach.  At least bigger guys like Jay and Gunter have some conditioning in the offseason.

Well this is the first time I have ever done this.  These are pics of my leg just last week when I has an episode with my leg.  I still have some poison in my leg.  The doctors were going to amputate and I refused to let them.  They told me I could have this problem for up to 10 to 15 years.  It has gotten allot better than it was.  The first 4 or 5 years it acted up monthly.  Really bad.  103 fever, sevre redness then peeling of the skin, inflates to over 31 inches, hard as a rock and at times actually leaked fluid out the pores (over a gallon a day).  It has gotten so much better where this was my worst episode in almost a year.  It got very red and swelled up.  But at least I can walk with it.  It onkly last about a week then it goes back to almost normal.  About 2 inches bigger than my other one.  I have no calves at all cause I really can't work them much.  The last picture is what my calves used tolook like.  At least the same size.  I feel I am ahead of schedule and I think my leg and everything will be back 100% sometime next year. 

Anyway wanted to show everyone the reason why I haven't been able to train like I used to.  I am back training.  Slowly but at least regulary.  Not looking for pity or anything just wanted to show people a contributing factor of why I gained so much weight.  My thyroid also seemed to slow down but I took thyrod for awhile and it seems to be better than it was. 

It's cool that Shawn makes fun of me because I am fat.  I make fun of myself all the time.  It gets me through the shit I have gone through.  I get mad because he acts like he is perfect and still lies to the fans and everyone else.  He won't talk about anything.  He hides and shrugs shit off.  I hate people who do what he does yet still reaps in the riches.  But someday his day will come.  I'd hate to see what he says about those kids behind their backs and other people who have had a curve ball pitched to them.

Very true but I would rather weigh significantly less (which I do) than be heavier and look like that.  If he wants to look like he shouldn't guest pose.

That has been the issue:  pro bodybuilders who demand huge fees with the promotor's expectation  that "big name bodybuilder" equates to " more bums in seats".  However, when they show up far from even good shape, but just a blob, only the most hardcore guys/girls would appreciate that.  Quite a few people in the audience would be sorely disappointed at seeing a 330 pound Coleman on stage with a gut hanging out &  barely able to breathe. 

Not saying that Coleman in entirely a blob as you can see lots of muscle there..   just that if I had to pay money to see that, then I would have been somewhat disappointed.  10 bucks?  okay,,, 25 and over...too much money.

This is where the lower tier bodybuilders could make good coin: be in good shape year round and charge big bucks to come guest pose.

If you are going to look like that, then I agree: it would be best if you didn't charge for your guest posing round.  If the news about a person's shape gets to all the promotors, then the bodybuilder in question will see his demand go down.  And he'll have to change his fees. 

Mr. Coleman certainly appears to be resting a bit on his laurels with that level of conditioning. 

it could have been over in FIBO or wherever as many of the guys who go over there at that time of the year are far from being in good shape.  It's all a good time and no one gives a shit. 

it's a tough call. 

It isn't about who won how many trophies: it's about professionalism.  Not every professional has it.  I am not a professional in anything.  There is no expectation of anything around me.  I and many other people on the board are not expected to show up in good shape for a guest posing routine.  And no one pays me 3000 to 5000 dollars for my advice.

Unfortunately it is.  People rely too much on fast food for meals.  It is quite disgusting to look at these people walking down the street.

True todays people are way fatter than the population of just 10 years ago.  All these fancy diets and drugs and operations yet people are getting fatter.  I am constantly saying to my friends when I see a fat person how can they live like that for so long.  I mean I was a skinny kid.  I always had muscles because I did gymnastics and ballet since 2nd grade.  In fact when I ws a freashman I made the varsity baseball team but the coach put me down to JV cause he said I needed to get bigger.  I weighed 130.  And to make our varsity team was a huge acheivemment cause that particular team had 5 future pro ball players on including Cy Young winner Mike Scott from Houston. 

Anyway, being skinny then fit and musclular to now fat I have spread myself over the whole gambit of physical structure.  And I can tell you from personal experience being fit and muscular wins hands down.

The average American male (black or white) is 5'10". Shawn is shorter than at least 75% of the population. He's about the same height as Al Pacino.

Shawna is 5'7".  He is basically the same height or shorter than a women.  Which is convienent when you think about it.  Short people like him get made fun of while young.  It is a major reason why he has the Napolean Complex.  It is something that comes with the territory.

What are you talking about fool?  He is OFFSEASON.  He is probably eating 10000 calories per day.  He looks to be about 320-330 in those shots (can anyone confirm this?).
