5 weeks post hernia surgery
« on: September 05, 2023, 11:40:27 AM »
Today is 5 weeks. I kind of got beat up in the surf last week like an idiot and probably stressed it also have been coughing so a little worried I stretched it. Not sure I will ever have proper abs again but also still have some swelling. Supposedly I can start doing some lifting in another week. I have lost some weight and I do feel soft. But I must say the belly button area does not show a hernia it is improved or at least it doesn't show at this bodyfat level. It does seem to have some extra fluff to it but maybe just swelling can't really flex or feel abs right now. I would assume once I start doing some training it will lean out a bit. But it still doesn't feel right and I don't trust it. May wear a belt when I start lifting or just go super light or both haven't decided.

Go light, get back into it, it comes back quick... I was down 8 lbs. in a week while dealing with the herniated disc and pulled lower back.
No appetite, zero.
1 week of training and eating right again, that 8 lbs came right back. I realize your down time is longer, but it will come right back... I got the slight hernia bump (umbilical) but it never got worse, so I just left it.

I wouldn’t say I have a belly but definitely a bit of a pouch at this point. But again I have had one day of exercise in 5 weeks and stomach still hurts so pretty sure I still have internal swelling

Umbilical. It should look good once that swelling goes down.

Just do like GR said and go easy.  No valsalva maneuvers or abdominal pressure.

He upped the drug dosages hoping he'd finally win something. Constant health issues.
Tried to "diet" (not binge too much on junk food) for 3-4 days before the contest - still ate like shit. Got sick.
Didn't win, didn't even show up to the finals. Wreaked havoc on his health.
Followed that up with a failed "world record" attempt at strict cur. Had to get hernia operation.
Now he'll add the hernia to his long list of excuses for failure.
