We were in Kosovo on a peacekeeping mission operation kfor not in a warzone with insurgents. We would raid country villages at sunup and turn the houses upside down looking for documents as they had ethnic cleansing during the war and different people would just move into the houses. So we were trying to do census work to make sure the same people still lived in the house after the war. We were also looking for contraband but mainly identifications but yeah we would ransack their homes. Sometimes the residents would get upset and start complaining and it was my job with my training partner who was part of my platoon to grab them and ziptie them as we were the two biggest meatheads and the E7 knew I was a wrestler. We didn't want to shoot some 60 year old villager who starts waiving his arms as he sees us destroying his home we had rules of engagement we would just grab them and ziptie them and sit them down. Didn't seem strange at all you guys wanting to shoot an old man dead in a peacekeeping zone because he gets mad when he sees people tearing his house apart is ridiculous.
Another time we were at camp rock which is the top of the Albanian Kosovo border every spring they would smuggle guns across so we set up a guard station and inspected every tractor to make sure they didnt have them hidden in the hay or whatever. There were only a couple day. Small village top of mountain sparesely populated. Well one time I was in the giant tent inside the one platoon camp and the said we were all needed at the gate. So we run out there thinking it's some kind of issue and this idiot E5 is arguing with a 70 year old man who lives 200 yards from the gate who apparently complained about being harassed every time he came out to his outhouse to take a shit and the E5 wanted us all to line up in a show of force and I started laughing I asked him if he was serious and suggested he could handle the old man himself. My E5 did not like that but its like seriously you can't handle one old man I got to come up here on my break so you can have a show of force with an unarmed 70 year old man handle it yourself. We had another idiot corporal who let some kids into the Humv when we were guarding an old church on a cold night so of course they stole the night vision goggles and there was a big investigation. I lied and told the investigator the corporal didn't let them in even though I knew he had and told him at the time he was being an idiot but I still covered for him.
My one lifting partner from the platoon is now almost 500lbs on disability really sad situation got divorced started taking anti psychotic drugs and just gained a ton of weight has now found Jesus or something as well. My other lifting partner who did the takedowns was actually originally from England had an accent and everything. I don't know what happened to him as they went to Iraq after I got out. I hope he is good. He was a big Manchester United Fan we used to talk about opening a gym together when we got out.
My college roommate who went to Meps with me is still in but should be getting out soon. I think my cousin finally got out. I don't know I have mixed feelings about the military.
We got extended from 6-10 months on our deployment as the Iraq War officially started when we were in Kosovo. I never went to Iraq or Afgan just Vilseck Germany station and Kosovo deployment I liked Germany. We did get a 5 day pass to Sophia Bulgaria I will keep those adventures to myself
Peace keeping mission ransacking peoples homes?
Look how Brian teases with his buddy was from England so people start asking who he was then he can spend 4 pages dancing around it and as such deflect from his stolen valour
Your post doesnt make sense
Peace keeping is about building relationships with the people and maintaining order not ransacking the villagers houses you fucking idiot
