in a 100 years
« on: September 20, 2023, 05:05:49 AM »
In 100 years like in 2123 we will all be buried with our relatives and friends.
Strangers will live in our homes we fought so hard to build, and they will own everything we have today. All our possessions will be unknown and unborn, including the car we spent a fortune on, and will probably be scrap, preferably in the hands of an unknown collector.
Our descendants will hardly or hardly know who we were, nor will they remember us. How many of us know our grandfather's father?
After we die, we will be remembered for a few more years, then we are just a portrait on someone's bookshelf, and a few years later our history, photos and deeds disappear in history's oblivion. We won't even be memories.
If we paused one day to analyze these questions, perhaps we would understand how ignorant and weak the dream to achieve it all was.
If we could only think about this, surely our approaches, our thoughts would change, we would be different people.
Always having more, no time for what's really valuable in this life. I'd change all this to live and enjoy the walks I've never taken, these hugs I didn't give, these kisses for our children and our loved ones, these jokes we didn't have time for. Those would certainly be the most beautiful moments to remember, after all they would fill our lives with joy.
And some of us waste it day after day with greed, selfishness and intolerance.
Every minute of life is priceless and will never be repeated, so take time to enjoy, be grateful for, and celebrate your existence.

Not me. Within the next 50 years we'll have the tech to download our brains into digital format and move consciousness over to there. Also, there's cryogenic freezing which will probably be good for 1000, 2000 years time. One or the other will prevail and although there will probably be laws against the future humans doing it; us cryogenic astronauts will have grandfather rights from before they came to pass and be considered exceptions for the study of scientific potential. Will probably be one of the only white people in existence.

Edit: I hope my Johnson doesn't snap

You probably don’t realise but that is a narrative put out there to drive the change you are seeing.

Do less. Consume less. No point I working hard to build for future generations because they hate you.

It’s a message for poor plebs to consume less.

Good post. It's the most depraved, nasty sort of human that buys into that narrative and chooses a life of tv watching and sports hero worship over family and health.

To post random pictures of ourselves as much as you can and question others ability to “strict curl.”

I believe that is where enlightenment leads us.

It is quite childish to think that we can "move our consciousness", we are moved by a greater consciousness with a greater power inherent within it. It is childish to consider the brain as the beginning and end of consciousness, these brains are the temporary conduits through which the presence, consciousness and energy of Life flows, a life which has no exterior creator, which has no beginning and end.

But it is true, it does not say give up on material life or family, it just puts it in perspective. Kings are usually extremely egotistic in their ambitions and ideas of immortality through blood lines is just their selfish plans in action not about being a loving parent to the future generation.

There is no satisfactory answer to these questions. Best to meditate and inquire "who or what is this that feels himself or itself to exist, to be, who am I?"...because we then loose interest in the repetitive narrative of our little story of me and plunge in to the depths of our Being and come to understand that our existence always was and always shall be, and enjoy the peace of that understanding.

LMAO, okay, Deepak. Didn't realize neuroscience was another one of your fields of expertise alongside hoarding potatoes and getting battered by Ukrainian women with borderline personality disorder. Maybe ease up on the mushroom tea.

The whole DMT and near death experiences type people get convinced about this soul spiritual universe is one business. I get it. I really do. Like a vivid dream of your brain making sense and putting things together. Makes people hopeful of a greater consciousness and spirituality with some plan and universal hum. Imo that's what it is: your brain making sense in its safe mode power saver setting and translating it into something you can comprehend. Trouble is: when the lights go out and battery drains _ the power saver mode turns off and the screen goes black. Endless black. That's it, in my opinion. 1000 or so years maybe there will be regeneration and replacement of neurons or whatever. Getting frozen is the best option for immortality and hey even if it doesn't happen you're dead anyway so you've lost nothing.

Maybe AI will eventually figure out a way to digitally replicate it for a download but I'd rather come back in a body with my dick than stuck in a robot suit

Who knows. It would be interesting to see where humans are in say 10k years. Just the possibilities...
