When dieting, how do y’all do with being “small”?
« on: September 27, 2023, 01:23:16 PM »
So over the last 3.5 months I have dropped almost 25 lbs, and while it’s been intentional I’m running into a few issues I guess I’d call it. One, even though I didn’t think I was fat, I’m surprised by how not ripped I am after losing all the weight. Two, I started at 252lbs and am down to 228lbs and have lost three inches on my waist, but I assumed I’d have abs by now. I do like how lean my face looks, but it’s weird being what I feel like is “skinny”. My clothes don’t fit the same and I’m about to go out and buy a few new pairs of pants to fit me better. I almost feel like I’m waisting away. People ask if I’ve lost weight, and even though I’m actively trying to do so, I guess I am self conscious about it or something. I don’t feel quite as powerful in the gym either.

Soul Crusher, you actually wrote me a diet some years ago that helped. Thanks.

dont train for appearance and you'll be fine. You're not getting smaller, you're getting faster, more athletic

What you are feeling is normal.

How tall are you?

228 is not small even if you are 6'2" or 6'3".

You have bigorexia.  Over time your mind will adjust.

Your waist size should 1/2 your height or less for health.

Focus on health.  Make health your goal.

Excess bodyweight, even if muscle, is unhealthy.

Dude, all you're trying to do is not be fat.  Stop worrying about the scale.

Otherwise, you're just another bigorexia hankins.

If you were 252, and I'll be conservative at 25% BF, you'd have to lose over 30+ lbs to start seeing abs, I would think.

6’4 first thing in the morning. The day usually beats me down to a strong 6’3 by dinner time.

That is a good weight for your height but by no means light.

I used to be 225 at 6'1".  Waist was 38

Now I am 200-205 and waist is 35-36.

Check your waist to height ratio.

Shoot for 38 or less.

Usually the leaner I get the bigger I look, but people who bulk up I'd say higher than like 15% body fat (no visible abs) most of the time are delusional about how much of that bulk is actually muscle. And subsequently most people are surprised after completely dieting down to contest condition, how light they have to get to be shredded.

Doctors should encourage patients to measure their own waist to height ratio, new draft guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend.

The guidelines on identifying overweight and obesity say that a waist measurement of more than half of a person’s height is an indication of increased fat in the abdomen and is associated with a greater risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease.

My waist is now 36” tops. It was 39-40” before, although I shoehorned myself into 38’s. Now my 36’s are a bit loose. I pulled measurements when I started and the biggest shrink is my waist. My arms are 17.5” flexed and we’re at 18” and my quads were 26” and are down 1/4”. It just amazes me, like a few others have mentioned, how much of the weight just wasn’t muscle. It was like a suit on top of muscle or something. I’m just not sure how much further I want to carry it. Shit at this point I’d have to be 220lbs to have abs and I don’t know that I’m prepared to be that stringy.

That`s commendable brother, but IMO it all depends on the foods you eat and your energy expenditure.

Don`t believe that calorie is a calorie bullshit.

To get leaner and look better, eliminate bread, mayo, butter, margarine, processed foods, dairy (just short term),any and all junk/sweets,calorie dense food with little nutritional value, soda, lunch meat, etc. etc, etc.

Walk at a leisurely pace on a treadmill post workout varying incline heights constantly, and train hard......real hard with very little rest between sets.......light weight feels very heavy, very quickly.

I`m no expert but if you need help PM me and if I`m able to help out I will gladly do so.

Measure the waist around the navel.

Sounds like you are at a good weight for your height though.

Just train and build more quality muscle.

You will get used to it.

I think i look better in clothes when i'm 230+, but with my shirt off i look better at 205.

Most people who have never dieted down have a false sense of how much muscle they have.

It's all in your head, stay where you are for a few months and then diet down another 10-15 pounds.

Remember it's better for you in the long run to be light.

Plus it makes your cock look larger. ;D

Bruh...

At that height, you are already walking the earth as a king of kangz. What the fuck are you worried about? Get yourself some well-fitting clothes and stay lean. Literally everyone will be envious. No one cares how how big and stocky someone looks, lol. Do yourself a favour. Print off these two photos and put them on your fridge:

This^^^

I got down to single digit bf last year and was 5'11 184-188.  My permabulker powerlifting buddies all fucked with me about being small, in comparison to their 240-260 fat asses.  Both of these morons thought they would be ripped at 215 at the least.
Fast forward to early this year and one of them tried to get into shape for a cruise he was going on.  He got down to around 200 and still didn't have a drop of muscle definition, just looked like the average guy who plays sports but doesn't even work out.  I mentioned the 215 thing to him and reminded him that he has a minimum of 30lbs to have a visable 6 pack and good muscle definition! LOL!

He has since regained more than half of the weight he lost, as being small was messing with his self esteem no doubt about it! LOL!
