The Walking Dead spin offs
« on: October 07, 2023, 06:52:00 PM »
Anyone watch these?  There was Dead City (I think) and now there is one about Daryl Dixon winding up in France somehow.

Have to say, the last two seasons of the original were pretty piss poor at times.

I liked Fear The Walking Dead.

I tried to watch that when it first came out.    Two reasons that I couldn't.

1 - Kim Dickens nose.  I just could not stop staring at that honker.  It is bad (for her face style).  Speaking of her face, she had a beginners meth addict look to her.  From the nose down to the throat is pure drag queen genes.

speaking of meth addict looks, that brings us to the second reason

2 - Frank Dillane - who played the drug addict Nick.  I wanted to just beat his ass for no reason.  General principle ass kicking.  Knock him the fuck out and cut that nasty ass hair.

Seeing how those are two of the main stars, I couldn't just ignore them.  I watched about four or five episodes and gave up.  Hopefully they both (storyline) died horrible deaths.

I agree.  It took me awhile to get into it.

How you do watch a show if they kill off all the hot women?

I just migrated to the game and Clementine.  Clem and Lee were the 2 best characters in the whole universe

The most brutal scene I saw was Negan killing Abraham and Glenn. I can envision something like that in a post-WW3 wasteland. I felt like shit for a few days after watching Season 6 Episode 16 and Season 7 Episode 1. You get to know these characters for 6 Seasons. They go through all kinds of tests and hell, only to meet their end like that. Walking Dead was a great series. It's not just about Zombies. It's about the human drama. Negan at his most brutal was way more menacing than the Zombies. The Governor though was more formidable physically. Without his bat, I would give the Governor the edge.

They died. And yes, they could be annoying. But they also had their moments. I liked Fear the Walking Dead. Liam Neeson's "Taken" daughter is in it, with short hair.

But I preferred The Walking Dead. It peaked in Season 7 with Negan's entrance. I still need to watch the more recent shoot-offs.

Sasha grew on me. At first, I did not notice her. But then she became more cute as the show progressed. And she ended up being excellent with a gun. I liked how she went after Negan.

Both the Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead had some good moments in the earlier seasons, but the shows lost their way once the main characters basically became superheroes.

The Last of Us is pretty good if you liked the style of the early seasons of Walking Dead.

There's even a spin-off called "Darryl Dixon", guess which character will become a superhero in that series

Don't remember the season but Sasha's season finale death was it for me.

That mom and her son died?  For real?  How many seasons did that take?  I could try to watch it now that I realize they won't be there in the future.  They really just annoyed me.

The original Walking Dead was the best except for the last two seasons.

Since I have only watched the Walking Dead (original) I can say that this is true.

That is why I did not care much for Rick or Carl in the series.  Maggie too in a way.

I got tired of seeing Daryl with his never-washed-in-a-million years hair always looking wet and greasy hanging in his face but at least he had a compelling character arc.

Yeah, that is the 6 episode series playing now.  He wound up somehow in France.  I watched the first episode.  It was decent half way through, until it morphed into the standard "ruthless immoral bad guys" vs "oppressed peaceful villagers" (who happened to be nuns wielding medival weapons).   Same formula as before.  He fights for the underdog against overwhelming odds.
