Will there will be Congressional investigations into foreign nation interference like there were with Russia? Will the US enact any sanctions? Rhetorical questions.

Israel Secretly Targets U.S. Lawmakers With Influence Campaign on Gaza War

Israel organized and paid for an influence campaign last year targeting U.S. lawmakers and the American public with pro-Israel messaging, as it aimed to foster support for its actions in the war with Gaza, according to officials involved in the effort and documents related to the operation.

The covert campaign was commissioned by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, a government body that connects Jews around the world with the State of Israel, four Israeli officials said. The ministry allocated about $2 million to the operation and hired Stoic, a political marketing firm in Tel Aviv, to carry it out, according to the officials and the documents.

The campaign began in October and remains active on the platform X. At its peak, it used hundreds of fake accounts that posed as real Americans on X, Facebook and Instagram to post pro-Israel comments. The accounts focused on U.S. lawmakers, particularly ones who are Black and Democrats, such as Representative Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader from New York, and Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia, with posts urging them to continue funding Israel’s military.

ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, was used to generate many of the posts. The campaign also created three fake English-language news sites featuring pro-Israel articles.

The Israeli government’s connection to the influence operation, which The New York Times verified with four current and former members of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and documents about the campaign, has not previously been reported. FakeReporter, an Israeli misinformation watchdog, identified the effort in March. Last week, Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, and OpenAI, which makes ChatGPT, said they had also found and disrupted the operation.

Israeli military says it recovered the bodies of 6 hostages from Gaza
The operation came as the United States pushed for a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas that would see the release of scores of hostages held by the militant group.

Hamas Rejects Another Hostage Deal
The terror group refuses Biden’s compromise and claims a suicide bomb.

Who’s up for another round of “Deal or No Deal” with Hamas? Every episode follows the same script. Under heavy U.S. pressure last week, Israel accepted a “final bridging proposal,” also supported by Egypt and Qatar. Yet Hamas refused even to show up for the negotiations in Doha, and on Sunday it outright rejected the U.S. compromise.

What does President Biden plan to do now? He advertised the Doha summit as a wrap-it-up, last-chance negotiation. “We are closer than we have ever been,” Mr. Biden declared Friday. The same day, a U.S. official said the parties were ready to dig into “the sequence by which hostages would be released,” since Hamas is still holding an estimated 111 captured on Oct. 7, as well as “the list of Palestinian prisoners, because, ultimately, this is an exchange.”

_______________________

The main sticking point is the Philadelphi Corridor, separating Gaza and Egypt. Israel insists on keeping forces there to prevent Hamas from rearming. Hamas insists Israel leave, because it wants to rearm. Neither the Palestinian Authority nor Egypt can be trusted to control the corridor and thwart Hamas. Israel has discovered more than a dozen tunnels from Gaza into Egypt, including one big enough for military jeeps to pass through.

The Biden Administration’s temptation will be to up the pressure on Israel, where it feels it has leverage, to concede on this. The President wants the headlines before the November election to hail him as the statesman who ended the war. But Israel can’t countenance a deal that would let Hamas go back to plotting and preparing for the next Oct. 7 massacre.

The alternative is to ratchet up the pressure on Hamas, something the Biden Administration hasn’t tried. Mr. Biden could do it by speeding arms deliveries to Israel or enforcing oil sanctions against Hamas’s funders in Iran. But instead the White House is going to try another last-and-best set of talks, except this time even more last and best than before.

Quote
The U.S. is sending a “few thousand” troops to the Middle East to bolster security and to defend Israel if necessary, the Pentagon said Monday.

Why should the US send a few thousand troops to defend a foreign nation that is rich, armed to the teeth with very advanced weapons and even nuclear weapons? They've been getting billions of dollars, weapons and unconditional political support for decades, why risk the lives of US military personnel?

Do you have any idea why that location was chosen in 1948?

Israel is located in a region known to Jews as the Land of Israel, synonymous with the Palestine region, the Holy Land, and Canaan. In antiquity, it was home to the Canaanite civilization followed by the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Israel is 'the promised land.'

I would not be surprised if Israel takes out Iran's oil and gas infrastructure.

Back in the late the late 80’s I met an old Palestinian couple in their home in El Cerrito, CA. They were in their 80’s.  They told me of being kicked out of their home that had been in their family for generations and tossed out on the street. You could see the anger that still was there all these years later.

They wouldn’t have given two shits about some promised land talked about in a book written in the Bronze Age.   This along with so many other things feeds into the hatred toward the Jews.

Anyone unjustly 'kicked out of their home' has a legitimate reason for their hatred toward the people they believe were responsible.

The State of Israel's location is what I was talking about, when I asked you if you had any idea of the history of Israel?

That book you mention would be The Hebrew Bible, The Tora, and The Book of Genesis which is the first book of the Hebrew Bible also known as the Christian Old Testament. Both the Bible's Old and New Testament is still used today by much of the world which is what makes this book relevant to current events. FYI Judaism precedes Islam. “Ancient Israel” predates “Palestine” by more than a millennium.
