Impressive in a way but also entirely ridiculous.

Like, it isn’t even really powerlifting, the sport, is it.

I bet all my money this beast of blubber would be chopped in half with much less than half that weight without the support gear.

Maddox ain’t making eight at this point. His time has passed. Even still, his presses close-to aren’t NEAR as impressive as Sarychev’s 738.5. That lift is picture-perfect. Zero compression rebound and with a legit pause.

Kirill, for my money, is, as of 2023, the bench press KING.

a 1400-pound lift is simply nonsense. It’s a circus sideshow spectacle at best.

It's hard to tell, he's been a shirt guy most of his years, the only raw bench contest number he has is #450ish done as a teenager. But then he posts something like this, that shows there is power out of the shirt -

Just a bull shit lift. Be a fat guy, take a wide grip and arch your back. Push the bar two feet. Congrats you're now an athlete.  We were better off when we had the clean and press. Most big bench press guys couldn't clean half the weight they are pressing.

Two feet is a LONG distance to press a weight.

And …

Some need to quit with the arch-criticism. Yes, absurd contortionist arches are ridiculous, but if you’re interested in bench pressing correctly and to minimally chance injury, to pinch your shoulder blades and properly-biomechanically secure an arch to your spine is the ticket.

I feel there is bench pressing and shirt benching. They are not the same thing.

Question for you, Fortress: what's the opposite of making you frisky?

Because I believe this "1,260-lb squat" will make you feel that way.  ;D

Ever seen the distance Arnold pushed a bench press? That's a long way to press. His 440lbs bench max is way more impressive than a big fat guy pushing 600lbs less than two feet.
