I’ve been talking with people and I have to be honest and say I don’t give one fuck about Israel. I don’t care what happens to who or how and everyone asking for donations is really pissing me off. GET FUCKED. if it has nothing to do with the USA why should I give a fuck? Same goes for every country nothing personal with Israel.
You're not being an asshole.
You have your priorities and other countries and their people aren't your priority. That's your way and you're not an asshole for being that way. As long as you aren't actively trying to bring harm to anyone else, you aren't wrong in just sitting still and being neutral. You have every right to your opinion and stance, it's the American way.
I care about Israel because my mother was born there. I care about Israel, because I have family and friends there. I care about Israel, because I spent much time there when young and have fond memories of when I was a child riding my bike on many streets alongside my cousins and would interact with many great people. These people and the memories the place holds are connections which make me fond of what Israel means to me. I can say the same about Greece. I spent many summers in Chios with family and friends and also hold Greece close to heart.
You know what I don't care about? Politics in Israel. I don't care about the foolish idea that there needs to be territories separating people (literally lines in the sand). I don't care if you're Jewish or an Arab. I care about people. I've been to Israel countless times and I know what it is to have ultra Orthodox groups (Haredim) spit on my friends and I. I also know what it is to sit in a cafe in the Haifa district and break bread with, you guessed it, Israeli Arabs. Arabs are funny people, in that they have an interesting sense of humor and they love to eat and see others eat. Arabs are also just people, like anyone else.
We are all human beings after all. Think long and hard about what humans truly are. We are all the same. Some with more education. Some with better upbringing. Some with better means. Ultimately, all part of the same human race. Have a human be raised next to Monkeys and that human will act like a monkey. Have a human be raised with academic scholars, they will be well spoken and considered "smart". Regardless of how much melanin or genetic variations that allow for facial features to be distinct, we are all human beings living on this rock floating in space. The sooner we wake the fuck up and realize we are better working together, as opposed to having certain groups think they are better or "more worthy" than any other group, is the moment we will evolve into a better state of humanity. We humans are in many ways destined to kill each other given our primitive ways. Religion is a dirty tool. It's been used for as long as we've walked this earth to divide, control and conquer. Feed any human being the same story since they open their eyes to this world and they will not only believe it, but defend it with their last breath.
Before you believe in some god source, consider believing in yourself and the power of loving others. You show love to others, you are showing love to yourself.
I've purposely stayed away from all the forum talk about Israel, because I've been on the phone and also via online messaging with family that are there now. The true everyday people of Israel just want this bullshit to all end. They hate the ridiculous separations and constant need to live in threat of one side attacking the other. Crazy part is, that there is a high likelihood that if we eliminate the idea of any religion, these imaginary lines in the sand will become just that, imaginary. These lives could have been spared.
