great post and totally true.
i was a huge die hard mike tyson slap happy fan, when younger, and a die hard boxing fan.
tyson was marketed and managed well. alot of so called boxing fans on here, forget he barely beat tony tucker, james douglas put and ass whipping .
he lost almost all his major fights. quit in a few as well- aka danny williams, kevin mcbride, and got himself dq in the second holyfield fight. i would recon prime ray mercer would have made him quit as well.
1, Tell me what other 19 20 yr old heavyweight isnt spoon fed opponents
2, Youngest ever heavyweight champion
3, He beat 3 world champions to unify the heavyweight title
4, Time how long Douglas was down for if it had been timed correctly Tyson
would've been the winner
5, Soon as that Khvnt Don king got hold of him Tyson was on the downward slide
6, When king got rid of Kevin Rooney as his trainer -the writing was clearly on
the wall for Mike.
7, Had Cus lived longer & Rooney stayed as his trainer Mike's potential & best years would've lasted a lot longer.
8, Sad to see mike floundering in his later fights , not having trained & no
proper decent coach team behind him losing to boxers he'd of destroyed as a 21yr old.
9, Tyson v lewis both at their best would've been one hell of a fight.
Tyson well past his best & openly admitted he did virtually no training for the
fight still lasted was it 8 rounds against arguably the best heavyweight champ ever.
Yes a lot of If's & but's surrounding Mike - he was a one off young phenomenal
champion who peaked early was mishandled & exploited, A talent wasted
& a case of what could've been.
