In NJ in my neighbor hood there are so many of those four door jeeps. Not one ever sees 100 meters of off road.
Yeah, I see some in the city as well. Not a spot or scratch. Ok, maybe Jeep doesn't need to change their business model at all. Sounds like they're making plenty of money.
Why anyone would accept the tradeoff of crappy ride from a live axle vehicle, and never gain the benefit of it off road... I guess that's effective marketing for ya. I bet the salesmen never stop laughing.
You probably remember the Jimny from the late 80s sold as Suzuki Samurai. Basically a poor man's Jeep. Smaller, less hp, but better reliability considering Jeeps these days. Only weight about 2500 lbs so they flatten them hills.
