That is a beauty although I’m torn on rose gold. It looks beautiful but I think it would look a little homo on me hahaha. do you have smaller wrists or just prefer the 36mm even with big wrists?

Haha I have 8 inch wrists, but I am a sucker for vintage timepieces ( so anything from roughly 28 to 36mm.) Everyone I know busts my balls and calls me a homo or they keep asking me why am I wearing ladies' watches hahahaha.

I personally loved how Nolan and his costume designers discreetly added a magnificent Hamilton cushion B on the wrist of Cilian Murphy in the movie Openheimer ( unfortunarely, you never get to see clear wrist shots in the movie)

Case: 26.7 x 26.7mm gold plated
Thickness: 10.8mm
Lug width: 15mm
( so yeah, pretty small for today haha )

The main characters all wore 1930s Hamiltons btw.

Speaking of vintage, the latest iterations of the day-date, or datejust, indeed look a little too...precious. I strongly dislike the heavily polished center strap links and lugs. They are okay on oyster bands but yeah, it looks faggy/flashy on jubilees and president bracelets.

I personally prefer the older datejusts, all the way up to the 5 digits models launched in 1988.

Paul Newman wore an epic datejust ref.16200 in "The color of the money" ( a sequel to his 1961 film The Hustler)

Admittedly, it doesn't quite look the same on Brett Hart lol ( this pic btw should totally be on Canadian currency )

....heck, even an older Sid Vicious can't pull it off

I will say the 36mm doesn’t look half bad even on Bret hart. Didn’t Tony soprano wear a 36mm also on sopranos?  That 26mm though damn that must look tiny on your 8” wrist.

It is insane to get one from the AD. I managed to get one in 2013 for retail due to having bought 4-5 from this AD before. I e been on a waiting list for years now at another AD cause the former went out of business and at this new one I’ve bought prob 5 Rolexes and a bunch of jewelry and refereed many people there and still nothing. Although i did luck out and knew a guy who got one from this same AD cause he spent 250k there and he sold it to me at cost with taxes at the time was around 14.5k(I did some work for him at a steep discount)and I immediately sold it later that night for 29k it was the white dial 116500 and I prefer the black dial either way though when you can double your money in a day you gotta do it. The Rolex world is crazy.

I used to buy steel Daytonas for 60 bucks in Chinatown. They were high quality actual stainless steel automatic watches you would have to open them to tell the difference.

I have purchased real watches but those China town watches were awesome they had every single model of every brand available and they were legit quality

Styles have changed. I have an antique mens watch from the 50's it's the size of a womans watch now.  I have an antique womens Rolex that is the size of a ring.

In all seriousness I question that he is the father. He must have been on heavy sauce nearly 100% of the time for over 5 years now. How can his testicles be up to the task? Something doesn't add up here.

Yep, Gandolfini's character wore one. In real life, he owned a submariner that was stolen from him by one of the paramedics who arrived to revive Gandolfini after he suffered a massive heart attack while on vacation in Rome with his wife and son.

Styles have changed. I have an antique mens watch from the 50's it's the size of a womans watch now.  I have an antique womens Rolex that is the size of a ring.

At the time, pocket watches were bulky. Slapping this thing on a wrist obviously meant building a smaller mechanism.

A "miniaturized" wristwatch equated with progress and technological prowess. The smaller the better. That's the reason why watches were traditionally smaller before.

The popular art-deco "cushion" case shape was a geometrically clever way to fit more in less space. Again, it was a trend with a purely functional purpose behind it.

Ladies' watches were even smaller but largely inaccurate. Nobody cared since women stayed in the kitchen.

The introduction of sportier watches such as divers slowly started the trend of larger/bulkier watches. The rolex GMT Master worn by Pussy Galore in James Bond : Goldfinger (1964) was nicknamed "the fat lady" due to its "huge" 40mm case size....

Stallone started the Panerai "macho" trend. Larger watches became even more popular.....
