Disco IS wonderful compared to rap/hip-hop... I actually didnt mind some of it.
Some of my favorite bands experimented w/ it...

It was an amazing era. The clubs were just rock clubs with cover bands prior to the disco era. It was great hearing live rock by very good cover bands. I remember a big rock palace called Mother's in NJ. When the dancing era was becoming popular they actually split the club in half. One part disco dance club and one part rock place. It was a fun era where girls went out in heels dressed to impress and guys actually dressed up to go out. The music was blasting and you asked a girl to dance.  It was a great time. Then they started turning out garbage songs to a dance beat and people started to rebel wanting to hear non disposable songs that stood the test of time. After disco disappeared and rock came back girls still wanted to go out dancing. Just in time New Wave type stuff came out here it was back again. Clubs filled with guys and girls dancing again. Right now it seems Hispanic music is capturing the spirit of men and women dancing together again.

I used to go to all the rock clubs at the jersey shore wildwood, avalon etc. the all night clubs were the funniest. they used to lay the drunks out like dead bodies outside the club. They actually had a bouncer guard the lifeless bodies so they won't get rolled.

The Jersey bouncers back then were savages. They would look for an excuse to beat the hell out of someone.  Now places will get sued but back then it was how many drunken assholes can we destroy today?  Never participated in the south Jersey shore  clubs. The most south I would go would be Seaside Heights. At the time of my clubbing days I lived on the other side of the Hudson river so it was Manhattan and North Jersey. I think I've been every club and major bar in North Jersey during the late 70's and early 80's. The drinking age was 18 at the time so there were a lot of drunken fools in the clubs.

Thanks!  :D

How long did you bounce? From the 70s to the 80s?

Yes.  I also get into other places free of charge so long as I would "help out" if there was a disturbance.

That was a NJ code of bouncers. I partied with two bouncers and they got in any club they wanted for free.

They came in  the store bought a shitload of Timberlands and other stuff and fat ass Queen Latifa bought a dart board case the kind that opens up with a green chalk board on it but it was sealed but after leaving,I`m sure she discovered it came with no darts or a board.  LOL  :D

Huge bodyguards with those fuckers and I mean huge.

Tom Cruise came in one time also...............Kidma n was filming a movie in Northhampton Mass. and Tom bought a shiload of soccer shoes and soccer cleats for the staff to play while on break,

The thing that truly pissed me off was that none of them ever asked for my autograph........I chalked it up to them being shy.   ;D

I was born in 1970, so I was a kid during that decade, but my eldest sister, 16 years older, was into that scene. She looked like prime Cher, matter of fact. Seriously. Anyway, yeah, through her I was exposed to the music and fashion. She was always “going disco dancing.”

My brother, 10 years my senior, was heavily into the hard/heavy rock/metal of the Seventies, so from his bedroom came a steady stream of AC/DC, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, BOC, Max Webster, Deep Purple, etc.

Obviously that was my jam. I’d sit in his bedroom leafing through Playboys and banging to powerful tunes.

With the decades I have come to appreciate a lot of the dance and disco music of the late Seventies, however.

Chic is badass.

At least with Disco I never wanted to beat anyone up just because the music made me disgusted and angry.  cRap will do that to a Man.  Disco was "happy music".    When cRap came out I likened it to "Beatnik Poetry", i.e., stoopid and pointless.

Kinda like bhanky and his "thoughts" here and doubtless in the real world.  ;D

Such a beautiful and talented young woman.  Many nights the DJ would play the long "disco version" of this song for the last song of the night.  Or sometimes it was "MacArthur Park".  If there is a Heaven, she belongs there.

These whores they place on pedestals now?  Fuque 'em all to Hades.  WAP?  I hope those bitches die slowly from a naaaaasty STD.  All democrats belong in Hades.   Never forgive them and never forget why!
