I got a bunch of grass-fed ground sirloin because it was good last time. The steaks were kind of tough. A few pounds of chicken breasts and a couple bags of gluten-free nuggets (nh) and a couple of packs of turkey bacon (nh again)

So I figured to try it out last month and didn’t know it was a subscription service. I’m normally good about setting an alert to remind me to cancel. I received a $200 charge in the middle of the night at 12:45AM yesterday. I was up at 4:30AM, saw the charge and then found out that there’s no way to cancel your order online. You can only cancel your subscription service, but this didn’t include the order being processed. Their customer service conveniently doesn’t open until 9:00AM. I called at 9:05AM to cancel and was given an excuse that it was already in the hands of the shipper. The shipping history shows that it didn’t ship out until 7:00PM. There’s no way a perishable product is going to sit with a shipper for that long. I plan on disputing the charge and enjoying some free, juicy meat (nh). Has this happened to any other Getbiggers? If not, do not order from ButcherBox.

I have an amazing butcher shop a mile away from my house. I can't eat supermarket beef, chicken or pork anymore. The stuff sold there is bottom of the barrel crap. I got a gift certificate for Omaha steak. Their steaks are garbage on par with the super market stuff.

Even the hamburgers from the butcher is amazing. I know the guy and he told me a secret. All his meat for sale has to look perfect. Any imperfections he sees visually will be ground up  for hamburgers.  He told me the hamburgers he sells are the top of the shelf steaks. Beyond amazing hamburgers.

My father was a top chef. I'm spoiled. Down where you live in the nearby town of Robbinsville is a NYC transplant that opened a real Italian deli.  His bread sold there was off the charts fantastic. My next visit there the bread wasn't good. I asked what happened. He said the people there didn't like the good bread that had a crunch to it so he got garbage soft bread. I notice the same with something as simple as a pizza or a bagel. In North Jersey and NYC it takes some work to find a bad pizza place or a bagel. Now that I live in central Jersey I have never found a real bagel down here and the majority of pizza is a very low standard for people to say it's good. The bagels down here is bad bread with a hole in it. Some Trenton style pizza is the exception.
