Arvilla’s Veins Exploded!

Well….  It finally happened…. I worked a 14 hour shift …. Came home got ready for bed ( took sleep meds) all of a sudden there is fucking blood everywhere! It’s spewing/ spurting out of a vein in my leg like a fire hose! It won’t stop , when I move it sprays the walls etc …..  try holding pressure on it, won’t stop the bleeding ….. I wrap it in a bath towel and put electrical tape around my leg ( all I had) can’t drive to the emergency room because of taking the sleep meds.  ….. go to sleep wake up in a bloodbath ….. blood everywhere!!!! I go to work they tell me to go to the ER right now! … so I went ( not much they can do but put clotting powder on it and wrap it ) I have to see a Vascular surgeon now ( remember I had all my varicose veins removed completely ten years ago)

1. How old are you?
2. Are you diabetic or have you ever been pre-diabetic?
3. Have you ever used illicit drugs?
4. Misused/abused pain medications or stimulants?
5. I'm actually more concerned about what the condition of your foot could be indicating.
6. Are you saying that there was NO kind of trauma that cut/lacerated your leg and your arterial wall I'd so thin/brittle that you had a spontaneous hemorrhage?
7. Do you have high blood pressure?

I'm not passing judgement.  I'm genuinely concerned and attempting to figure out how serious it is.

60 / no / yes pretty much tried all the “ club- party drugs” been clean for decades /no/ zero trauma …. Did not hit it or anything … was on my feet tho for a 14 hour shift at work/ yes i have slightly elevated blood pressure…. And to the other guy ….   Yes having a girlfriend or friends I could calll at midnight to take me to the emergency room would be nice!

Dude, you have venous disease with spontaneous rupture of varicose veins. You're likely going to need sclerotherapy to collapse the symptomatic veins, a phlebectomy or an ablation.

If you were in NYC, I'd get you in with a vascular surgeon.

The good thing is you'll be alright. The bad thing is all that blood will stain your carpet. No seriously, the biggest risk is possibly developing a clot in your limbs (DVT) that can become dislodged and travel towards your heart, lungs or brain. That said, ask your primary care doctor if an anticoagulant is right for you.
