More than 100 discriminatory and harassing comments were made, with speakers discussing the size of their genitals, displaying lewd images, and making demeaning quips about women and minorities.

Instructors, some of them active New Jersey police officers, advocated stopping motorists for no reason or illegally prolonging stops. If employed, these tactics could violate people’s civil rights and be unconstitutional under both federal and New Jersey laws.

Some instructors promoted a “warrior” approach to policing and dehumanized civilians, referring to them as “the pieces of shit of society” or using offensive memes.

It is unfortunate and not uncommon for police officers to be on power trips, IMO. I think this is particularly true for those early on in their careers. It is advisable to never argue with a police officer because it is impossible to know what is going on in their heads. Better to treat them with more respect than they possibly deserve. The payoff is that you may not get the occasional traffic ticket or worse be falsely arrested.

As of late, it seems as if more officers are being called out for their offenses... at least according to what I read in the media.
