I'm sure dismissing anything snopes says, and believing everything Gateway Pundit and Newsmax says is perfectly mentally healthy. I'm not saying the4 Popeye creator wasn't influenced by the guy. I"m just saying that's not his picture. This is pretty basic research stuff Coach... Give it a try. Just for fun, pretend I posted that meme... Cartoon characters are usually based on amalgamations of several people cartoon producers have met.

Popeye was probably a combination of several maritime sailors.

Like the way Bugs Bunny was making fun of people in Brooklyn during the 1930's.

I’ve personally met Pops at the toon conventions and he is a stand up guy. He’s had a few strokes (and getting punched by that fat fuck Bluto hasn’t helped) and that’s why he talks kind of funny. Overall I like the guy. I’ve told him that when I destroy the earth with my Illudium Q36 - I’ll spare he and his lovely (hey he thinks so) bride.

Good cartoon, the other day i saw a dude who reminded me of Popeye, huge forearms but upper arms were not that big, it looked kinda silly. Idk what kind of labor work that dude did but it's a silly look imo
