Lmao.  Little Mike throwing around some "big" words trying to sound all scientific and shit. SMH.. He said NOTHING that any person off the street didn't already know. To gain muscle you have to push it beyond what it can normally do. PERIOD. Even Arnold in pumping iron said "the body may not be used to the 9 10 11 or 12 rep so when you do that that is what makes the muscle grow.    And yes more is not better but neither is not enough. Look at guys from boot camp. & days a week all day doing everything and each one always comes out of boot camp more muscular than when they went in. Overtraining? nope. But mike would think they should only do it once a week for 15 minutes. Football" double sessions for weeks. Overtraining? nope.  But mike would want you to do it once a week for 15 minutes.   YES there are limits depending on your goals. So I guess a marathon runner would be better off training once a week for 15 minutes ( according to little mike) So I guess volume has no place in building muscle?  Look at gymnasts? Hours each day and they are built. Bike racers. see their legs?  The point is EVERYONE is different. Not all bike racers have huge legs not all gymnasts are muscular and not all volume guys build a lot of muscle. Little mike "theory"  is come in do one set of one rep with the heaviest weight and have help getting it up to  make sure you gave your all and then go home and repeat in 7 to 10 days.  That is basically what he says. But wait all the experts say it takes at least 6 reps ( isnt that volume?)  And after 12 is more cardio.  This is not rocket science people. Train hard eat good sleep well and if you want take steroids. There is much more to building muscle than pushing the muscle to the limit. Food rest mental issues etc. But the biggest and most important is GENETICS!!! Little mike never says that does he. The body can and should  be worked out every day But we look for short cuts and some people listen to little methead and his training because it sounds good ( less time working out) but it has never and will never work for any real boybuilder no matter their genetics or drug intake. PERIOD.

You make some good points but your use of the phrase 'little Mike"  makes you sound jealous and spiteful. The guy is dead- what's your point?

Mike was a homo fraud. I've personally never seen anyone who did what Mike advocates and put on any size. The dude was good at marketing I'd give him that much. And yea he sounds smart to morons with his Ayn Rand bullshit

Mike trained about 3 to 6 sets a body part not counting non taxing warmups. He trained a body part directly either once a week or twice when he trained for the 1980 Olympia using the ABA split then next week using the BAB split. To illustrate the rotation on Monday he trained Legs, chest and triceps.  One Wednesday it was back, delts and bicep. His last training day for the week was back to legs, chest and triceps.  The next week he rotated it to Monday starting with back, delts and biceps.

When he got out of the nut house and got into personal training is when he came up with the outrageous abbreviated workouts. Nice to train someone for 15-20 minutes and say see you in 10 days. It seems most personal trainers preach HIT because they can fit so many more people into their schedule. Think a trainer is going to stand by for a guy doing a 90 minute or a 120 minute workout?  Mentzer could fit so many clients in with his bull shit workouts that he never did.

Mentzer started his HIT journey training three days a week training the whole body each workout winning the Mr. America contest. From there he went to a two way split with four workout days a week. From there he was influenced by Mr. Florida Frank Calta to adopting the rotation for recuperation three day a week workout I typed about above.

You'd be right. John Little and his bs obsession with old meth head. He's still milking methzer's name just to make some cash.

All bs. Ask John Terrilli (80's bodybuilding champion) on how methzer actually trained as he worked out with old meth head in 1980. methzer was not doing low volume hit. He was doing the typical 20 to 25 sets high volume training. He was also seen by others like Franco Columbu doing way more sets and higher reps than what he advocated in his writings. Funny how there is no actual training footage of methzer doing an actual workout. It's because he trained like most top bodybuilders at that time with high volume.

That isn't true. We had a poster here who is now deceased. He wrote for Ironman magazine. He told me he trained many a day in the gym with Mentzer.  20-25 sets? Bull shit.

Youre kidding yourself if you wanna use some 'elite supreme intenisty' to unlock gains in 15 to 30 minites a day and thats all you need to even look above average

Unlocking gains requires some serious effort that you cannot condense in 15 to 30 min per day. End of discussion!

He sure did. Go ask John Terrilli yourself. He has a YT channel. Many have stated they saw methzer in the gym doing high sets including Greg Zulak, Franco Columbu, John Terrilli, Danny Padilla amongst others. He was doing high sets.

Exactly. It's why these hit clowns who only train 30 minutes once a week don't look like they even exercise yet alone lift.

There more people who now say they either trained with Mentzer or watched him train than ever really did.
