Hubbard was way ahead of his time - the church that was formed "due to him" is unfortunately a scam.

Imagine being Tom Cruise and buying fully into the fiction of a failed and long-dead fantasy author.

Complete loon

But Fortress gives him a pass because of Top Gun: Maverick.

The big question is, is Tom really "buying into the fiction" or is he using it for his own purpose? He seems to have advanced the ranks pretty quickly.

Apparently he is a major figure and bigshot in Scientology (just like Travolta) and can use the "religion" and the followers for different purposes / porpoise / belugas

Having been dead, I can attest to there being someone and more, brother.   Your words are well said, brother.   I used to tell people God requires neither a house nor money from us.  You cannot buy salvation.  You cannot earn salvation.   It is given freely.    I had a friend that got mad at me because I am not as learned as many pastors with degrees.

I simply told him that is pretty much what the Rabbis said about the Nazarene.  He was just a carpenter and they were educated men.

When the Nazarene forgave the woman caught in adultery (strange is it not that the men who caught her failed to catch the man she was with?) He said, "Go.  And sin no more" not "Go and sin some more".

I can no longer claim to be Christian because I do not walk the Faith and refuse to be just another christian.  Either I live His teachings or not.   But what I hold true I will state without hesitation.

You are a good man, Wes.
As are you my friend.

Been pronounced dead on three different occasions.........I won`t go into detail, but I`m thankful to be here with you assorted nutbags!  :)

I know some really smart people who are 100% onboard with religion, be it one or the other. Whether it's Baby Jesus or Buddha.

When i asked my best friend about it years ago, his answer was very simple to understand.

He just said "what if there is a chance of an afterlife? What if i get the spend eternity with all the people i love?"

Makes sense on a basic level, and why i believe most people follow religion to some extent or another.

Or people like my mother who grew up very religious and made their entire life about religion. I think it's completely illogical to live this way, but i can see why it gives her peace.

I was raised in a very overbearing religious family, and by the time i was 14 i knew it was all bullshit and a method to control people. I've spent many years studying different religions and traveling the world to experience different cultures, religion on a base level is a very good thing.

And as long as people leave me alone about it and don't try to force it down my throat, i could care less what they believe.

The world would be a terrible place if the majority of humans were not religious and didn't believe in good/bad or heaven/hell to some degree.

That's why i think it's good to have religion.

When I had "religion" explained it thus:  I don't have "religion", I have Faith in the Nazarene.

declaring religion to b bullshit is a drastic understatement.

religion is the most dangerous thing in the world... by far.

a system of doctrinal dictates can lead the lost into all manner of evil.

those who control earth, right now, r wholly religious.. and entirely wicked.

religion is devoid of God.

The ONLY way to discover LOGIC in the Bible is through the perspective of The Kingdom Hall. Then the Bible  comes together with mathematical precision.

Travolta attributes his career success to Scientology.

He was a mentally struggling actor until he took it up.

Cruise's mother was into Scientology.

There are some logical aspects to Scientology but it goes off the deep end when aliens from outer space come into the picture.

It's interesting how some religions get started and really take off.

Religions are multi-level marketing schemes.

I would argue that governments are much worse.

governmental institutions (effectively systems of 'doctrinal dictates' (underpinning policy)) are, collectively - an instrument of control:

politics is not real, but it is a religion (pick ur flavor)

Yep. Governments also have the legal power to lock a person up or destroy them financially.
