I saw Von Erichs and Free Birds live as a kid.  Characters look nothing like them, especially the lame-playing Kerry.  Effron is built weirdly!

these guys were about my age and I grew up here in the Metroplex so I pretty much saw them grow up through their dad’s wrestling organization.Met Kerry at the gym once but can’t say I knew him.Sad how everything turned out.

I agree. The dude playing Kerry was miscast but it didn’t take too much away from the movie IMHO.

Very sad. Lots of people audibly sobbing in the movie theater, and they didn’t even include the story of the second brother, Chris Von Erich, to kill himself so you only see two suicides in the movie. The Mike Von Erich character was an amalgamation of him and Chris. Chris may have been the most tragic of all the brothers and he didn’t even make the movie. I read where the producer or director said that if he included that story as well the movie probably would’ve never been made.

Everything considered he should have played Chris. Big Zach probably has similar stats to Chris.

Classic film. High school kid jumps in a fighter jet no training and no questions asked and is immediately the greatest ace flier in the skies.

Louis Gossett Jr reprises his only role as the honky-hating hardass drill instructor who eventually approves of the mayonnaise protagonist.

Still unsure which of these plot lines requires more suspension of incredulity.

Never met him either but saw him live twice as a kid.  At least fucking use someone in the movie who looks and is built like him. Fuck Hollywood!  The guy is like a Top 3 ATG in Wrestling.

Guessing Kevin had more lines (more focus) than Kerry in the movie so they needed a better actor.



If they had Al Pacino playing Kevin, then im sure they could have used Zac as Kerry instead

I do agree that they could have used twenty other actors (Gary Oldman, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Danny DeVito, Woody Allen, Roman Polanski etc) instead of the one they used for Kerry though!

Decent effort from the guy who played Ric Flair in the movie. Shit result but decent effort.

Ric Flair’s liver must be pretty strong. I’m sure he took a ton of orals, which he probably washed down with beer or other alcoholic drinks.
