I do a lot of endurance stuff, and Tool translates well.  Roundabout, Leave it, Dark Side of the Moon, aren't going to cut it, and I've heard them all a million times.

I have songs like Jambi, 46 and 2, Ticks and Leeches, Lateralus, Aenima, Vicarious, Prison Sex, etc

Lateralus, if you have any interest, is based on the the Fibonacci sequence....this video shows how in depth they got.  It's crazy.

But after googling, now I'm seeing there's debate on the classification for Kansas.  Either way, I was more wrong than right with my comment.

In summary: Depends on which iteration of Kansas you're talking about, the personnel involved, and the crowd they were playing for. Kansas, at its height, had six very very talented musicians - there wasn't a lot they couldn't pull off, especially live. Prog, Southern Rock, Classic Rock, Blues, etc. They sit in a unique space where they aren't quite British enough to be considered full fledged Prog by many, and not quite American enough in their earliest iterations to be true classic rock. Really, it's all just semantics anyway! Kansas has a pretty unique sound which evolved and changed over the many decades they've been active!

  don't forget you're much younger than me ,perhaps you're thinking of later Kansas where they were going for a more commercial sound as compared to their roots.
