Dustin Poirier has never lost two fights in a row...but Poirier is 35 now. As far as official statistics go, the oldest lightweight [155-lb] champion in the UFC was [IIRC] Sean Sherk, who was 32 when he won the belt in 2005.

Unfortunately for Dustin, he has been everything EXCEPT the overall champion. He was interim champion in 2019, but lost both his championship attempts. But at age 35...I just don't know how much Poirier has left.

A friend of mine told me that in the UFC, being the interim champ means just as much as the overall champ [?], but he didn't explain why that was.

But anyway - while Poirier's personal history would suggest he would win this fight [coming off a loss], the overall statistics for 35+ aged lightweights are not that good.

I hope he wins though.  I am a big Poirier fan. I had never heard of "BSD" before this fight. I knew that France had banned MMA, but that must have changed at some point in the past decade.

Dont see the Hype with BSD at least as a serious contender was surprised he's favourite, but will concede that position if he beats Porier, but I see Poirer winning this fight, too much big fight experience.

I'm the opposite, I do see it.  Maybe it's just a gut feeling but we'll find out tonight.  Dustin is one of my all time favorite people in the UFC.  My prediction for the main event tonight is that it sucks ass.  Predicting O'Malley stinks it out and wins a boring as fuck decision.  I hope I'm wrong.  I like Chito and would love to see him get the gold.

From top to bottom one of the best cards I can remember.  That's the best Sean O'Malley I've seen to date.  Can't wait for him and Merab.

I was actually wrong about both. But more wrong about O'Malley. BSD is still an animal and he had Dustin in big trouble. Dustin is just an all time great. Probably the best mma fighter to never win the title. O'Malley beat the fuck out of Chito and inflicted real damage. Not boring at all.
