By and large tattoos are way overdone....
Someone else mentioned an entire family from grandma to kids and grandkids at the beach all covered with useless images...
It's more of a symbol of how increasingly self centered each generation has gotten. So much is just gibberish, meaningless images, shapes. It used to say something about you: ive been in prison, im in a gang, i was in Vietnam, etc... now all it says is look at me, I'm cool in this generation. I have 2 dozen flowers and skulls tattooed on my arms and angel wings on my back, just like everyONE else. Or for gen X'ers nothing says putz quite like the classic barbed wire around the arm.(No offense)
Like others said, it used to say something about you. I have one tattoo. On my shoulder , my nom de gurre from my days boxing in my teens.
