Going off grid, gotta wait 6 weeks?
« on: March 13, 2024, 02:05:48 PM »
Me and my wife are moving back to the family farm in 6 weeks, unsure of what I can do while I'm waiting(aside from work).

I like city life enough that I don't want to miss it, so I'm afraid to do my routines that'll make me miss this place. The other half of me is frustrated I gotta wait so long.

Sorry if this is a weird thread, I've never felt like this before, the strangest of feelings. I've moved a 100 times, nothing like this has ever felt so permanent.

90% of this was caused by Justin Trudeau. I just can't trust this country anymore, tired of hindu's and muslims coming, in mass. Rents are skyrocketing, worthless land is skyrocketing, mortage rates are skyrocketing. We've had enough, me and my wife are moving to rural quebec and I'm pretty sure we'll never step foot in Ontario ever again.

My parents have been urging me to move home for forever, my wife loves my hometown we have free land to build on etc. I've spent 20 years running from plan b and all of a sudden I'm pulling the trigger.

I'm stuck in purgatory right now, just sitting on my hands for 6 weeks waiting to get out. Any advice for things I can do to kill the time?

Seems like a good deal and I don’t get why you wouldn’t want to move.
You sound like you are in love with your current town as much as Bhank likes Raleigh.
He stopped bragging about the beach and it suddenly became boring to him.

You don't have to go off the grid entirely- just about 90% of it. I hate cities and will be building a place on 200 acres of farmland I bought. I'll of course stay weaponized because even though you leave the crazies behind, they have a habit of coming in uninvited periodically, haha.

So Ontario is fucked?

Is Ontario Canada's version of Birmingham?

Yeah I hate it here, the only thing I ever liked was the fantasy of it working out awesome. I'm turning away a potentially profitable career. But it'd take 5 years to figure out if it's a hit or a miss, otherwise I can make the same money back home with a fraction of the costs.

The tough part is I'm stuck here until the end of April. I spent 5+ years here, to give up all of a sudden is an odd feeling. It's like breaking up with a girl and staying in her bed for 6 weeks.

Is Ontario Canada's version of Birmingham?

Southern Ontario is the lands surrounding Toronto/Ottawa.

There was always tons of immigrants my mom's an immigrant, I'm cool with immigrants. But we're now getting a ton of Muslims and Hindus. Most of our immigrants have either been from athiest countries like China or Christian countries.

Trudeau flooded the country with Hindus and Muslims on student visa.

Kid on a student visa literally killed a family of 6.

I don't know what's worst all the crime associated with Trudeau's million or the government trying to tell us it's not caused by Indians.

I’ve had moments in my life that felt like this at the time, but as time goes by I appreciate the grind and experiences I went through.

They can end up being formative without us realizing.

I go to Montreal most summers as I have a small place in rural NY, but it’s the only town I’ve actually been to in Quebec.

Current job for now. I already work from home, which is the part that makes this weird. It's not like any other move I've ever made.

This is one of those things that makes it weird, I got to thank our God Emperor Elon for starlink.

Had the weirdest experience in Toronto this past summer.  I rented an airbnb in the Beaches area by the lake.  Was all white and very nice, clean, safe etc.  I went a mile inland go to Loblaws and I was the only white person in the store.  Africans, muslims, hindu's.  I was like WTF.  Was like stepping into a 3rd world country.

Good for you guys... I hate cities and live in a pretty rural area.
Less people in general. Almost zero diversity...

trust me its weirder when you are not white.

When you're white you get to see things through the lenses of race. When you're brown you're  trying to figure out why people who look like you are acting retarded.

Hindus and Muslims  are the end of Canada there is too many too fast they'll never assimilate. They destroyed their home lands and we,re next

They're  unbelivably corrupt cheat on their taxes, labor laws hire family etc. It's the end of having a 1st world economy

Being serious for a moment, this actually sounds like a really good move for you.

Family farm, wife loves it, free land to build on, etc.

6 weeks is a short time.  I think you can handle it.  There are much tougher things in life than a 6 week wait.

When you say "off the grid" what exactly do you mean?  No electricity, no phone, no internet?

I live in an area (USA) with tons of Hindu/Indians too.  They are nice people.  Very productive, kids are great students, parents are hard working professionals and small business owners.

A few Muslims too.  There is a new Muslim temple nearby.  Only see them occasionally like the wives shopping.

Quite a few Orthodox Jews too.  They have a school in our town and temple.  Also there is a a couple other Jewish temples not Orthodox nearby.

No Hassids nearby but they are moving in to other towns nearby.  They are the weirdest.  They were knocking on doors in these towns and asking to buy the homes.

Blacks in the neighborhood maintain their homes really well.

It's the white trash that are the worst in the neighborhood actually.  Real slobs.  Junk all over and the yards a mess.

Gotcha.  It’ll be a big change but if you’re happily married and your wife is on board, why not?

Are you yourself ready for it?  Maintaining a farm/homestead is essentially a full time job already, could be tough on top of an WFH job.  Not impossible, but it would be a lot.  Get Vince Goodrum up there as your farmhand  :D

Brilliant! That's the best line I've read about race and it goes both ways. Whites wonder the same about those who look like us too.
