Halford is 24 in the vid. Still looks uncomfortable on stage.

The first record, Rocka Rolla, is indeed a (very) early heavy metal album, but its follow-up, Sad Wings of Destiny, is truly where Priest achieved lift off.

I saw them in concert back in October and I was surprised that dude can still sing. They put on a great show, and that’s not qualifying it by age.

Sad Wings is one of their best IMO... "Beyond the Realms" is just a crazy great song...
Used to love playing that one in one of my early bands in the 80's...

Albeit my favorite band is Slayer, the best is Judas Priest - their musical portfolio is simply astounding.

My 1st Priest concert was in a small theatre (Orpheum) in Boston. It was 1981, I was 15.
Maiden opened (Killers w/ DiAnno). To this day one of my favorite concerts.
7th row in that tiny place... Great days. 8.50 a ticket...

Yes, many times (5 or 6)... He was showing up here each year in the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom, a place I go to all the time...
His 'Free for All' album with Meatloaf singing on it is one of my all time faves... (Before Meatloaf was known/famous)..

Honestly I was an Avid reader of Hit Parader and Creem and all the music Mags, so I did know they were going to be big from 1st hearing.
I knew they were going to be opening, so I always bought the bands record that I was going to be seeing.

From 'Ides of March' right into 'Wrathchild' I was hooked.

I saw Screaming for Vengeance and Number of the Beast (together) when that tour went on. Saw Piece of Mind w/ Quiet Riot opening.
Saw Maiden, Dio and Motorhead all together one year... Maidens always been on of my top bands...

Maiden & UFO are in my top 5.

For many bands, the live album was the only one I had. They had all the bands best songs and versions were better than the studio.

This is an example:

I love a lot of Judas Priet's output. I was disappointed at the last recent album, nothing stood out at first listening.

Defenders of the Faith was such a godly album but there's some real dry stuff after that I just don't understand.

Yup, sound amazing... Ripper Owens has a crazy good voice...
Too bad Les Binks (drums) didn't stay on for long. My favorite Priest drummer.
