Fantastic lift. Record stood for 1/2 a century. Good to see someone from US doing well in Weightlifting...
The last time a U.S. man medaled in weightlifting at the Olympics was in 1984. (Brutal if true).

Fucking incredible!! The US is back on the world stage in Olympic lifting. I've been waiting for this for many decades! I think it was 1976 when Lee James got a silver in the Olympics. Now we have a world record holder! Can't wait for the Olympics.

I met Lee once at an AOBS Strongman/Weightlifting dinner he was honored at. It was funny, in talking to him he said "I work w/ a guy who moved here (Raleigh NC) from your home town to NC" and then he said his name.
It just happened to be a close friend and ex-Band mate of mine which was so odd and a huge coincidence.
Nice guy... Too short of a lifting career (injury).

I get the sarcasm. Bodybuilding warps so many people concerning what a real athlete's body looks like.  I'm willing to bet that none of the top ten Mr. Olympia contestants can clean and jerk 250lbs. He lifts in the 134lbs weight category.

That's badass.

Interestingly, despite the record, he came in second place overall.  First in the C&J, but his snatch was only 11th best.  A Chinese dude with a slightly worse C&J but a ~20kg better snatch took gold. 

The Olympic rematch in a few months is going to be worth watching!
