I'm traveling internationally this summer, so I got Global Entry.
Why the heck would anyone not get PreCheck? $78 for 5 years. 
There's a private precheck service called CLEAR that my fearless governor is trying to ban in the name of equity.
I have pre check, clear and global entry. Depending on the day and time you come back to clear customs, it may not matter. We take a sitter on vacations to the Caribbean and more than once she has beat us when we come back on a Monday or Tuesday and there’s nobody really in line.
What’s crazy about the global entry background check, probably 10 years before I got it, I brought an orange on a plane and the flight attendant took it from me. No big deal, I went to my seat and she threw it away. So when I was finalizing the interview for GE with customs, the customs guy said “there was an incident in 2011 with bringing fruit on a plane from a foreign country”. Nothing other than that was said, I just found it amazing they had tracked it when it seemed like such a small issue ten years prior.
