He signed a law that mandated tampons in all bathrooms including boys and the liberal media is doing their best to defend him. He will always be Tampon Tim and rightfully so.

He signed a law.  Ok.

But did the schools actually do it?  Were there actually tampons in the boys restrooms?  It's not looking that way from what the schools themselves have reported.  Or how the law was actually written.

Fact check: Debunking Trump attack on Walz, Minnesota schools say they don’t provide tampons in boys’ bathrooms

A variety of Minnesota public school districts say they do not provide tampons in boys’ bathrooms — debunking a claim former President Donald Trump has been making about Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate.

Trump has asserted that Walz signed a law that forces Minnesota schools to provide free tampons in boys’ bathrooms, suggesting this supposed policy is evidence of Walz’s radicalism on gender issues.

Trump said at an August 9 campaign rally in Montana: “He ordered tampons to be put into boys’ bathrooms. Do we have any children here? Please close your ears. He ordered tampons in boys’ bathrooms.” Trump said at his Thursday press conference: “He signed a bill that boys’ bathrooms — all boys’ bathrooms in Minnesota — will have tampons.”

Walz didn’t order Minnesota schools to put tampons in boys’ bathrooms or sign a bill requiring tampons to be put in all boys’ bathrooms. That’s not what the bill signed by Walz in 2023 actually says — and it’s not how the 15 Minnesota school districts that spoke to CNN on Friday say they have implemented the law.

The law, intended to make sure students of all income levels and gender identities have ready access to menstrual products, says school districts and charter schools must make menstrual products like tampons and pads available at no cost “to all menstruating students in restrooms regularly used by students in grades 4 to 12 according to a plan developed by the school district.”

The law never specifies that the menstrual products must be put in “boys’ bathrooms,” and it allows school districts to decide what counts as a bathroom “regularly used by students.” Districts are permitted to provide menstrual products in bathrooms for students of any gender, which are often single-stall rooms, rather than in their traditional multi-stall bathrooms for boys.

All 15 of the districts that responded Friday to a CNN survey of 25 districts, including the Minneapolis and St. Paul districts in the state’s two most populous cities, said they comply with the law without providing tampons in traditional boys’ bathrooms.

Kevin Burns, a spokesperson for Mankato Area Public Schools, the district where Walz was a high school teacher before entering politics, told CNN that schools there are satisfying “the letter and intent of the statute,” which Burns called “very clear,” by providing menstrual products in “traditional female and gender-neutral restrooms” as well as school nurses’ offices, not boys’ bathrooms.

“St. Cloud Area Schools provides free period products in female-only restrooms, designated gender-neutral restrooms, and from school health-care offices. Period products are not provided in male-only designated restrooms,” said Tami DeLand, a spokesperson for that district in central Minnesota.

“We have provided free tampons and pads to all in ‘nongendered’ student restrooms and girls’ restrooms for grades 4 and up. They are also available from health staffers. We do not have menstrual products in boys’ bathrooms,” said Toya Stewart Downey, a spokesperson for the Robbinsdale district in the suburbs of Minneapolis.

“The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools provides menstrual products in girls’ bathrooms and gender-neutral bathrooms, not boys’ bathrooms,” said Tony Taschner, a spokesperson for the Twin Cities-area suburban district. “If we are aware of transgender students who need menstrual products and use the boys’ bathrooms, school staff would work with these students individually on a case-by-case basis.”

Scott Croonquist, executive director of Minnesota’s Association of Metropolitan School Districts, which says its 52 member districts educate more than half of public school students in the state, said Friday: “Our interpretation of the law is the same as what you have heard from the people you have talked to in school districts. The law does NOT require menstrual products in boys’ bathrooms.”

Basically says that just because the schools have yet to put them in the boys room doesn’t mean they’re following the law that was signed meaning they would be vulnerable to future lawsuits. The schools are supposed to come up with a course of action to follow the law. It’s only a matter of time before those tampons get stuffed in there.

I’m not even that mad about tampons in the boys room as I am at the fact that the government feels like it’s responsible to buy tampons for its citizens with taxpayer money.

I believe the main issue republicans have with stolen valor/Tampon Tim is after he has accepted praise for serving in combat multiple times without correcting the people praising him right to his face. And then there’s the I carried a weapon of war in war comment….

I am reading it to say that it is for bathrooms for menstruating genders - which would be females and the dual use single stall private bathrooms like a handicap one.

My understanding is that it’s for anybody that can menstruate. So a biological girl that looks like a boy who wants to use the boys room will be able to get government sponsored tampons dispensed in there thanks to the new law. I find Walz weird regardless of this, but it wasn’t his idea although he did sign it into law.

I think that is a stretch.  Besides these are kids we are talking about.  You realize how BRUTAL they are?  If they saw a girl dealing with her period (even in private) in the boys bathroom, they would never let her live it down.

Not only did Sen. J.D. Vance's (R-OH) team refuse to provide a Washington Post analyst with more information about legislation he repeatedly claims to have introduced, they wouldn't even give her the number.

That's because, according to economics columnist Catherine Rampell, it doesn't exist.

"Talk about 'Stolen Valor,'" the Washington Post writer quipped.

Rampell Tuesday morning revealed Vance, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's running mate, has misled multiple mainstream media outlets by claiming he'd taken legislative action to help American parents with medical bills.

This has become a pet theme of Vance's as he tries to backtrack from "childless cat lady" comments by arguing Republicans' policy agenda provides more support to families than the Democrats' does, Rampell wrote.

Just last week, Vance (R-OH) recounted his second child's birth on ABC's Face the Nation and pointed to legislation he said he pursued, Rampell reported.

“We got these ridiculous surprise medical billings from the hospital because we had chosen an out of network provider, of course, at this most stressful of all imaginable moments,” Vance said. “I’ve actually introduced legislation to stop moms and dads from having to go through those surprise medical billings.”

Vance has made a similar claim on CNN and CBS, Rampell reported.

"I have sponsored legislation to try to fix things like that so moms and dads don't get these surprise medical bills," Vance said on CNN.

"I've actually sponsored legislation to end that practice," he said on CBS.

"When I first heard these comments, I assumed he was referring to the No Surprises Act, a statute that limited surprise bills from out-of-network providers at otherwise in-network medical settings," Rampell wrote. "Then I realized this (bipartisan) bill was signed into law in 2020, two years before Vance was elected to the Senate."

Vance's 2022 victory represented the first time he'd ever been elected to public office.

Rampell decided to go directly to the source and asked Vance's Senate office to point her toward the bill.

"His spokesperson declined to speak on the record or give me the bill number for whatever legislation Vance was citing," Rampell wrote. "Instead, I was told to read a Politico article that mentions a bill he sponsored on a different issue (related to expanding the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993) as well as another bill that’s at least on the relevant subject, but that he merely considered."

Vance cut off talks for the second bill referenced when he began auditioning to be Trump's running mate, the Washington Post reported last month.

This analysis arrives as Vance targets Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) with controversial accusations of stolen valor, a term usually reserved for those who misrepresent awards received in the armed forces.

Vance's claims are linked to Walz' recent gun control speech in which he references weapons carried into war, which veterans note has a specific meaning that does not apply directly to the Minnesota governor's 24 years with the National Guard.

Harris' campaign later said Walz never intended to mislead Americans about his service and he has since replied by saying, "I firmly believe you should never denigrate another person's service record."

Rampell argued Tuesday, given the context of Vance's legislative record, his attacks are inappropriate.

"The actual perpetrators of 'stolen valor' in this election are Vance and his party," she wrote. "If not in the military context, then at least in the public service one."
